Effects of the GLP-1R, GIPR, and GCGR Triple Agonist Retatrutide on Alcohol and Food Intake in Mice (Neuroscience 2026) - Sep 27, 2026 - Abstract #PSTR375.12 / KK11; Pres time: Nov 18, 2026; 01:00 PM - 05:00 PM; Location: WCC Halls A-C; "Recent studies have implicated the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) in modulating alcohol intake because GLP-1R agonists like exendin-4 and longer half-life semaglutide and tirzepatide can reduce alcohol intake in rodent models of drinking. In contrast, retatrutide decreased ethanol intake and sustained this effect through all doses in continuous and IAE mice except IAE females, which did not show reliably decreased ethanol intake across any dose. Taken together, these results support the hypothesis that emerging triple agonist GLP-1R/GIP/glucagon compounds reduce alcohol intake and may have therapeutic potential in AUD."
