Narcotics through time: exploring historical origins, synthetic advances, and clinical progress. (PubMed, Future Med Chem) - Jul 7, 2025 - "Key transitions from traditional opioids to synthetic compounds such are explored, alongside novel clinical advancements like Oliceridine (TRV-130), NKTR-181, and Cebranopadol, which demonstrate promising analgesic efficacy with fewer adverse effects. Additionally, recent preclinical studies on synthetic mu-opioid receptor agonists and dual-receptor targeting compounds are discussed for their therapeutic potential. Overall, ongoing research into safer and more effective synthetic opioids offers a hopeful path forward in advancing analgesic therapy."
