Induction of Ferroptosis in Multiple Myeloma (DGHO 2024) - Oct 13, 2024 - Abstract #P1036; Pres time: Oct 14, 2024; 02:52 PM - 02:58 PM; Location: Montreal; In-Person; "We then tested against a combination of FI and Carfilzomib, a Proteasome Inhibitor (PI) used in the therapy of MM. The data from the primary MM cells support the findings in the mouse cell experiments, which have shown that Erastin and RSL3 are both compounds that cause cell death in MM cells. Thus, these results demonstrate the feasibility of FI as a therapeutic modality in MM. Further investigations are required to characterize the mechanisms by which the effector proteins of ferroptosis cause cell death, as well as identify new compounds that utilize ferroptosis pathways in MM."
