Safety & efficacy of sodium glucose co-transport 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors in elderly patients with heart failure. (PubMed, Front Cardiovasc Med) - Sep 5, 2026 - "Patients aged ≥65 years initiated on empagliflozin or dapagliflozin were included. However, given the single-arm retrospective design and the absence of a comparator group, these observed changes cannot be definitively attributed to SGLT2 inhibitor therapy alone and should therefore be interpreted as associations rather than evidence of a causal treatment effect. Careful clinical monitoring remains essential, particularly in patients with underlying renal impairment."
