Identification of seed-competent high-molecular-weight amyloid-beta species and their neutralization by mAb158 (Neuroscience 2026) - Sep 27, 2026 - Abstract #NANO39.03; Pres time: Nov 18, 2026; 08:30 AM - 08:45 AM; Location: WCC Rm 207A; "In contrast, inoculation of approximately 22 microM synthetic Abeta1-42 protofibrils into young APP tg mice failed to induce the robust Abeta deposition observed with peak 1 Abeta, suggesting that the seed-competent Abeta species present in peak 1 Abeta are not simply equivalent to synthetic Abeta protofibrils. Collectively, these findings identify peak 1 Abeta as a native seed-competent Abeta species in the brain and demonstrate that its seeding activity can be neutralized by mAb158, suggesting a potential mechanism by which lecanemab may neutralize pathogenic Abeta seeds and thereby interfere with the propagation of Abeta pathology."
