One in two Middle Eastern patients with heart failure and preserved or mildly reduced ejection fraction is at high inflammatory risk: the INFLAMEAST study [Poster no. LBA-003] (HFSA 2026) - Oct 7, 2026 - Abstract #Poster no. LBA-003; Pres time: Oct 10, 2026; 01:45 PM - 02:15 PM; Location: ePoster Hub - Exhibit Hall 5-6 - PCC North; Monitor 02; "Half (50%, 95% CI 45-55) had hsCRP ≥2 mg/L despite treatment (beta-blockers 77%, statins 72%, sacubitril/valsartan 35%, SGLT2 inhibitors 37%), numerically exceeding POSEIDON (Figure); prevalence was 56% in UAE and 43% in KSA... High inflammatory risk persists despite contemporary therapy, above global estimates, and the burden falls disproportionately on women. Exploratory analyses implicate adiposity rather than renal function as risk factors, consistent with an IL-6-driven cardiometabolic inflammatory phenotype that warrants further study. Lower NT-proBNP in HF than in ASCVD/CKD suggests undiagnosed HFpEF in the latter, notwithstanding influences of therapy and comorbidity."
