IMMUNOSUPPRESSIVE TREATMENT IN ELDERLY PATIENTS (>60 YEARS) WITH ACQUIRED APLASTIC ANEMIA: A RETROSPECTIVE SINGLE-CENTER ANALYSIS (SIE 2026) - Oct 6, 2026 - Abstract #C020; Pres time: Sep 21, 2026; 11:50 AM - 01:20 PM; Location: HALL 4; "Standard therapy consists of immunosuppressive treatment (IST) with anti-thymocyte globulin plus cyclosporine (ATG+CSA), with or without eltrombopag (ELT), or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in selected cases. We retrospectively analyzed 40 consecutive patients aged >60 years diagnosed with AAA according to Camitta criteria and treated at our center between January 1989 and January 2025...Horse ATG was administered in 37 patients, whereas rabbit ATG was used in 3 patients.S- tarting in 2018, ELT (up to 150 mg/day) was introduced af- ter 3 months in non-responders...The addition of eltrombopag improved response rates with acceptable toxicity. Prospective studies are warranted to investigate CSA plus eltrombopag, without ATG, as a po- tentially safer first-line therapeutic strategy in elderly pa- tients with AAA."
