Comparative Study Of Foam Versus Liquid Sclerotherapy Standalone Or Combined With Diode LASER In Treatment Of Lower Limb Telangiectasias And Reticular Veins
(EADV 2026)
- "If VVs are untreated, it may cause serious complications e.g edema, thrombophlebitis, external hemorrhage, lipodermatosclerosis, dermatitis, pigmentation, induration, and ulceration(Kumar et al., 2020).Different sclerosing solutions are used to treat VVs, like polidocanol(POL), sodium tetradecyl sulphate, hypertonic saline and corrosive sclerosants(Patel et al., 2021)...Injection sclerotherapy followed by diode laser showed higher cosmetic improvement and patient satisfaction. Fig.2: Comparison between study groups as regarding patient's satisfaction."

88% Phenol Diluted in Distilled Water: A Minimally Invasive Emerging Treatment for Digital Mucous Cysts. A Case Series
(EADV 2026)
- "Compared with the currently available evidence on polidocanol for digital mucous cysts, which reports cure rates of approximately 70–80% depending on the series and recurrence rates remain variable, intralesional phenol achieved complete resolution in 93.3% of cases in our initial experience. These preliminary results are encouraging and suggest that phenol may represent a promising minimally invasive alternative for the treatment of digital mucous cysts. Further studies including larger patient cohorts and longer follow-up are needed to confirm these findings."

Ferret Glandular Myoepithelial Cells Are Multipotent Airway Progenitors with a Secretory Lineage Bias.
(PubMed, Am J Respir Cell Mol Biol)
- "Ferret GMECs are multipotent progenitors and contribute to gland development and airway repair. However, their descendants demonstrate bias toward the specification of secretory cells and CFTRLow ionocytes. This suggests that GMEC-driven repair may result in structurally restored yet functionally compromised epithelia, potentially contributing to mucus retention in muco-obstructive airway diseases."

CHALLENGES IN THE MANAGEMENT OF LEFT-SIDED PORTAL HYPERTENSION: A CASE OF RECURRENT ECTOPIC VARICEAL BLEEDING
(UEGW 2026)
- "It typically leads to isolated gastric or ectopic varices, presenting with recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding, with preserved liver function and patent portal vein.A 48-year-old woman with metastatic ileal neuroendocrine tumor underwent palliative gastrojejunostomy for bowel obstruction in 2021 and received chemotherapy followed by octreotide LAR. Since 2022, she had recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding from the peri-anastomotic region, initially attributed to ulcers or vessels, managed with multiple endoscopic hemostatic techniques (clips, adrenaline, polidocanol and thermal coagulation), including over-the-scope clip placement...Follow-up imaging showed portal vein repermeabilization but complete stent occlusion, despite anticoagulation and carvedilol...In 2026, recurrent bleeding from an ectopic anastomotic varix was successfully treated with cyanoacrylate injection. This case highlights a rare cause of LSPH due to extrinsic splenoportal compression, leading to..."

Aspiration-Assisted Catheter-Directed Foam Sclerotherapy Using the Sclerosafe Device for Anterior Saphenous Vein Insufficiency: A Retrospective Study.
(PubMed, Healthcare (Basel))
- "All procedures were performed in an outpatient setting under local anaesthesia (2 mL of 1% lignocaine at the puncture site) without tumescent infiltration...Polidocanol 2% foam (5 mL per session, Tessari technique) was administered and a standardised compression regimen was applied...In the absence of a control group and clinical outcome measures, the technique cannot be presented as an established alternative to thermal or non-thermal ablation, but it may be a technically attractive option in patients with clinical CEAP class C2-C4 disease. Prospective comparative studies are warranted to confirm these findings."

Airway glandular myoepithelial cells mediate airway regeneration and exhibit distinct CFTR functional profiles in a ferret model of cystic fibrosis
(NACFC 2026)
- "Tamoxifen was administered during postnatal gland development, during CF disease progression, or prior to polidocanol-induced airway epithelial injury in adult ferrets. Together, these findings demonstrate that ferret GMECs are multipotent progenitors involved in SMG development, airway repair, and pathological gland remodeling. They also establish GMECs as a clinically relevant cell population and potential therapeutic target in CF and other obstructive airway diseases that involve glandular remodeling. Importantly, these findings suggest that remodeling processes can directly influence airway CFTR function by mobilizing stem cell compartments with intrinsic biases toward specific cellular specification programs, thereby reshaping the CFTR-dependent functional properties of the regenerated airway epithelium."

KRT7-lineage airway glandular ductal stem cells drive regeneration and CFTR function
(NACFC 2026)
- "A KRT7-CreERT2::ROSA26mTmG transgenic ferret model was generated to enable in vivo lineage tracing of KRT7-positive cells following tamoxifen induction. Airway epithelial injury was induced by intratracheal polidocanol administration to assess regenerative potential... This study identifies a subpopulation of ductal epithelial cells in adult ferret SMGs that highly express KRT7 and likely represent GDSCs actively involved in airway epithelial regeneration. These cells can generate CFTR-functional epithelium, highlighting their potential as a cellular source and therapeutic target for regenerative and gene-based strategies aimed at restoring epithelial function in cystic fibrosis and other mucus-obstructive airway diseases."

CXCR1 surface expression promotes human airway epithelial cell engraftment
(NACFC 2026)
- "Engraftment assays were performed on well-differentiated HBEC ALI cultures transiently injured with 0.125% polidocanol (PDOC)... Although CXCR1 WT and CXCR1 DEL proteins were comparably expressed, only the WT receptor underwent full maturation to reach the cell surface. Enhanced engraftment by CXCR1 WT-expressing HBECs may be driven by inflammatory cues, such as IL8, released upon epithelial injury. These results support the feasibility of using engineered "smart cells " to enhance epithelial engraftment for CFTR variant-agnostic cell therapy in CF."

In vivo autologous basal cell transplantation reconstitutes airway epithelium in a ferret model
(NACFC 2026)
- "GFP+ FBECs were reintroduced into donor ferrets via bronchoscopic instillation 5 hours after airway injury with 2% polidocanol... We established proof-of-concept for successful conduct of autologous in vivo FBEC transplantation in a ferret model, achieving durable engraftment, multilineage epithelial differentiation, and sustained CFTR mediated ion transport and mucociliary function in engrafted areas. These findings support the feasibility of basal cell–based regenerative therapies for CF and provide a foundation for future studies using genetically corrected CF ferret airway cells."

Laser Cryosclerotherapy versus Conventional Sclerotherapy for Reticular Veins and Telangiectasias: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
(PubMed, J Vasc Surg Venous Lymphat Disord)
- "Laser Cryosclerotherapy protocol was superior to CS in all GAIS outcomes, with moderate-to-large effect sizes and consistent inter-rater agreement. Aesthetic response is progressive, consolidating between Day 30 and Day 90, with the largest effect size in the late period. Augmented reality amplified the magnitude of detected effects and improved inter-rater agreement, reinforcing its role as a standardizing tool in aesthetic phlebology RCTs. These statistical findings should be weighed against the greater cost and complexity of LCS relative to conventional sclerotherapy in a purely cosmetic CEAP C1 population (see Discussion)."
