Erythema Annulare Centrifugum: A Dermatologic Suspicion for Malignancy
(ACG 2025)
- "Although the pathogenesis of EAC is not currently fully understood, it is commonly characterized as a hypersensitivity reaction that occurs in congruence with a multitude of different entities: infectious diseases (viruses, bacteria and parasites) and drugs (chloroquine, cimetidine, aceclofenac). It is of utmost importance for the PCP to recognize this malignant association, relay the importance of proper cancer screening, and refer the patient for a prompt dermatology follow-up. With an early detection of PEACE, the underlying cancer can be detected at an earlier stage of the disease ultimately resulting in a better long-term prognosis for the patient.Figure: Paraneoplastic Erythema Annulare Centrifugum Eruption shown on the torso from the initial presentationFigure: Resolution of previously seen Paraneoplastic Erythema Annulare Centrifugum Eruption after resection of his colorectal adenocarcinoma (as evidenced by abdominal surgical scar)"

The efficacy of pre-operative oral aceclofenac and intra-ligamentary mepivacaine on the success of failed inferior alveolar nerve block in patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis: a prospective, randomised, double-blinded clinical trial.
(PubMed, PeerJ)
- "Based on the pre-operative medication and the intra-ligamentary injection received, the patients were categorized into the following four groups: two groups received 4% articaine with 1:100,000 epinephrine as an intra-ligamentary injection with or without aceclofenac as the pre-operative medication (Group 1 and Group 2, respectively), and two other groups received 3% plain mepivacaine with or without aceclofenac (Group 3 and Group 4, respectively). Mandibular molars with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis are associated with a high anaesthetic failure rate of a single primary IANB injection during endodontic treatment. Adding an oral pre-operative aceclofenac medication and a supplemental intra-ligamentary injection, augments the anaesthetic efficacy in such cases."

Multimodal evaluation of lipoxygenase-targeting NSAIDs using integrated in vitro, SAR, in silico, cytotoxicity towards MCF-7 cell line, DNA docking and MD simulation approaches.
(PubMed, Int J Biol Macromol)
- "We reported earlier that several NSAIDs, including naproxen, aspirin and acetaminophen, inhibited lipoxygenase (LOX) enzyme at sub-micromolar concentrations...Aceclofenac (IC50 0.85 ± 0.06 μM) was the most active drug, followed by indomethacin (IC50 1.13 ± 0.07 μM), meloxicam (IC50 1.94 ± 0.07 μM) and ketorolac (IC50 9.26 ± 0.82 μM). Celecoxib (IC50 15.81 ± 0.71 μM), lornoxicam (IC50 16.54 ± 0.28 μM) and nimesulide (IC50 19.87 ± 0.85 μM) showed excellent inhibitory profiles. Flurbiprofen (IC50 21.73 ± 0.93 μM) and etoricoxib (IC50 24.93 ± 0.64 μM) moderately inhibited the target enzyme...Density functional theory (DFT) and ESP studies, MD simulations and MMPBSA free energy calculations further reiterated the stability of ligand-receptor complexes. Overall, these findings highlight the potential of targeted NSAIDs as dual COX/LOX inhibitors with broader therapeutic relevance in inflammatory disorders."

Anti-inflammatory drugs as potential antimicrobial agents: a review.
(PubMed, Front Pharmacol)
- "NSAIDs, namely aceclofenac, diclofenac, and ibuprofen, were tested in clinical trials with patients diagnosed with uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) and cellulitis...Similarly, aspirin caused a high survival rate in M. tuberculosis-infected mice and strong to moderate in vitro activity against E. coli, B. cereus, P. aeruginosa, Enterobacter aerogenes, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Salmonella choleraesuis (MIC 1.2-5 mg/L). Moreover, topical application of celecoxib resulted in a high reduction in MRSA burden in mice...These data suggest that certain non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are promising drug candidates for the development of dual-action drugs for the potential treatment of combined infectious and inflammatory diseases such as tuberculosis, musculoskeletal infections and UTIs. Nevertheless, future clinical trials must be conducted to ascertain the antibacterial effect of these NSAIDs before their practical use."

Dynamic Behavior of the Glassy and Supercooled Liquid States of Aceclofenac Assessed by Dielectric and Calorimetric Techniques.
(PubMed, Molecules)
- "This is supported by significant differences observed between the FTIR spectra of the amorphous and crystalline samples, which are likely related to aggregation differences resulting from variations in the hydrogen bonds between the two phases. Additionally, the pronounced decoupling between translational and relaxational motions, as deduced from the low value of the fractional exponent x = 0.72, derived from the fractional Debye-Stokes-Einstein (FDSE) relationship, further supports this interpretation."

Synthesis and pharmacological evaluation of heteroarylamide derivatives as potential analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antidiarrheal and cytotoxic agents.
(PubMed, Heliyon)
- "Evaluation of anti-inflammatory activity unveiled that compound 4 exhibited 36.9 %, 64.17 %, 82.9 % and 93.9 % inhibition of paw edema as compared to aceclofenac's inhibition of 35.5 %, 78.6 %, 79.3 % and 91.2 % at the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th hours, respectively. Compounds 5 and 6 exerted considerable antidiarrheal effects with 85.00 % and 71.67 % inhibition of defecation at 25 mg/kg dose, respectively, whereas, the standard loperamide showed 85.00 % inhibition...Molecular docking analysis suggested that certain macromolecular targets such as cyclooxygenase-2, muscarinic M3 receptor and matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9) might be involved for the observed activities.
