Peripartum FXI replacement supports safe neuraxial anesthesia in FXI-deficient parturients
(ASH 2025)
- "Data collection included age, ethnicity, parity, deliverymode, type of anesthesia (NA or general anesthesia (GA), estimated blood loss, use of hemostatic agents(e.g., FXI concentrate, Fresh frozen plasma (FFP), Tranexamic acid (TXA), Red blood cells (RBC), and FXIlevels (baseline and post-treatment if available)...Of the 22 vaginal deliveries, 21 (95.4%) received NA, andone received remifentanil patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) due to personal choice...Our PPH ratewas 14%, within the previously reported 11–22% range, and did not correlate with FXI levels. No PPHoccurred in patients receiving FXI concentrate."

Comparison of the safety and efficacy of desflurane versus sevoflurane on postoperative cognitive function and early recovery quality in elderly orthopedic patients: a prospective, randomized controlled trial.
(PubMed, Front Med (Lausanne))
- P4 | "General anesthesia was maintained through continuous infusion of remifentanil (0.05-0.20 μg/kg/min) and a sevoflurane expiratory concentration of 1-2% or desflurane 2-5%, in combination with air containing 40% oxygen to maintain bispectral index (BIS) values 40-60. However, it demonstrated faster recovery times and higher patient satisfaction scores than sevoflurane. ChiCTR2400093852."

Impact of transversus abdominis plane block plus intravenous lidocaine on rapid recovery after bariatric surgery.
(PubMed, Front Med (Lausanne))
- "The CG received ultrasound-guided TAPB with ropivacaine, while the SG received ultrasound-guided TAPB with ropivacaine plus intravenous lidocaine. The two groups were compared in terms of total doses of propofol, remifentanil, and sufentanil used; pain intensity; intraoperative conditions; levels of inflammatory factors; additional use of postoperative analgesics; incidence of adverse reactions; and postoperative recovery time...Furthermore, the SG exhibited a shorter time to first flatus, first defecation, and first ambulation, as well as a shorter length of hospital stay compared to the CG (all p < 0.05). TAPB combined with intravenous lidocaine may provide effective postoperative analgesia for patients after bariatric surgery and may accelerate their rapid recovery."

A Comparison of the Analgesia Nociception Index and Nociception Level Index Under General Anesthesia With Propofol and Remifentanil.

Clinical outcomes of monitored anesthesia care vs. general anesthesia in transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation: a single-center retrospective study.
(PubMed, Front Cardiovasc Med)
- "MAC involved administration of a combination of local anesthesia with dexmedetomidine/remifentanil sedation, whereas GA involved endotracheal intubation. The use of MAC for TAVI is comparably safe to using GA, with potential advantages in recovery speed and resource utilization. A heart team approach, including cardiac anesthesiologists, is critical for optimal patient selection."

Remimazolam-Based Anesthetic Management in a Patient with Severe Aortic Stenosis and Myelodysplastic Syndrome-Related Thrombocytopenia: A Case Report.
(PubMed, J Clin Med)
- "Transient systolic hypertension during surgical stimulation was controlled using remifentanil titration and esmolol. Recovery and the postoperative course were uneventful, and the patient was discharged in a stable condition. Remimazolam-based total intravenous anesthesia can provide hemodynamic stability without vasopressors in high-risk patients with severe AS, and a transfusion strategy adjusted step by step according to the patient's response can be effective for optimizing PLTs while minimizing the transfusion-related risks of MDS-associated thrombocytopenia."

Effects of different anesthetics on remifentanil-induced postinfusion hyperalgesia in patients undergoing percutaneous endoscopic interlaminar discectomy: a randomized controlled trial.
(PubMed, Front Med (Lausanne))
- "In this study, we investigated the effects of different anesthetics (remimazolam, propofol or sevoflurane) on RPH. The mechanical pain thresholds for the dominant inner forearm, postoperative pain intensity, sufentanil consumption, and side effects were similar among the three groups. Continuous infusion of Propofol or remimazolam attenuated RPH but not acute pain or analgesic consumption after PEID, potentially lowering the risk of chronic pain."

Effects of Transcutaneous Electrical Acupoint Stimulation on Recovery After Gynecological Laparoscopic Surgery: A Randomized, Single-Blind, Controlled Trial.
(PubMed, J Pain Res)
- "Additionally, the TEAS group exhibited lower blood glucose levels 30 minutes after skin incision (P=0.045), reduced intraoperative remifentanil consumption (P=0.031), fewer total and effective PCA demands (P=0.004 and P=0.039, respectively), and earlier recovery of gastrointestinal function (all P<0.05). Perioperative TEAS effectively reduces the incidence of early postoperative nausea and vomiting and enhances recovery quality in patients undergoing gynecological laparoscopic surgery, but the improvements in QoR-30 scores were statistically significant but not clinically significant. These benefits may be attributed to attenuated stress responses, improved sleep quality, and decreased analgesic requirements."

Perioperative Multimodal General Anesthesia Focusing on Specific Central Nervous System Targets Does Not Reduce Postoperative Interleukin-6 and Neurofilament Light Levels in Patients Undergoing Cardiac Surgeries: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
(PubMed, J Cardiothorac Vasc Anesth)
- "MMGA did not reduce postoperative IL-6 or NFL levels, nor did it improve neurocognitive outcomes, compared with standard of care. The higher burst suppression in the MMGA group underscores the need for structured EEG education among cardiac anesthesiologists. Future studies should explore other EEG metrics and multimodal strategies for perioperative brain protection."

Comparison of the effects of different general anesthesia methods on the quality of early postoperative recovery in patients undergoing metabolic bariatric surgery: A randomized controlled trial.
(PubMed, J Physiol Pharmacol)
- "In both groups, patients received propofol, remifentanil and rocuronium for induction...In Group S, anesthesia was maintained with sevoflurane and remifentanil...No significant intergroup difference in QoR-40 scores was observed at 48 h postoperatively, and NRS scores were comparable between groups at both time points. The study results indicate that propofol intravenous anesthesia is associated with better recovery quality at 24 h after metabolic bariatric surgery, while the recovery difference between the two methods diminishes by 48 h."

Anesthetic Management Using Remimazolam for Dental Treatment in a Pediatric Patient With Dravet Syndrome.
(PubMed, Anesth Prog)
- "After a slow mask induction with sevoflurane, RMZ, remifentanil, and rocuronium were administered to facilitate oral intubation, after which general anesthesia was maintained with air, oxygen, and continuous infusions of RMZ and remifentanil. Intraoperative temperature and other vital signs were stable, and no fever or convulsions were observed during the perioperative period. RMZ is an ultrashort-acting benzodiazepine that may be useful for the anesthetic management of pediatric patients with DS because of its potential to prevent seizures."
