Azole Antifungal Consumption in Community Pharmacy Sales in Mainland Portugal: Trend Analysis from 2014 to 2023. (PubMed, Antibiotics (Basel)) - "This study aimed to analyze the consumption of medically prescribed azole antifungal drugs in mainland Portugal from 2014 to 2023, focusing on those directed to genital infections: fluconazole, isoconazole, itraconazole, and sertaconazole. Additionally, the defined daily dose (DDD) per 1000 inhabitants per day for fluconazole and itraconazole was lower compared to estimates from the last available survey (2009). Although our findings represent a lesser pressure on fungi, further monitoring is needed to better understand the evolution of fluconazole and itraconazole consumption over time, particularly due to the trends observed in this study."

(PubMed, Molecules) - "The system consists of a precursor solution loaded with sertaconazole nitrate as a model drug, which is able to easily swell in a stable three-dimensional structure by absorbing simulated vaginal fluid...In vitro degradation studies showed a slow matrix erosion, consistent with data obtained from lipophilic drug release studies in simulated vaginal fluid. Therefore, the suggested cubic phase based on lyotropic liquid crystals could represent a valid proposal as a vaginal drug delivery system due to its characteristics of resistance, adhesion and the possibility of providing a slow and controlled release of drugs directly at the administration site."

A Meta-Analysis on the Effectiveness of Sertaconazole 2% Cream Compared with Other Topical Therapies for Seborrheic Dermatitis. In Vitro Activity of 23 Antifungal Drugs against 54 Clinical and Environmental Aspergillus oryzae isolates.
