Efficacy and safety of ciprofol for general anesthesia in pediatric strabismus correction surgery: a prospective, randomized, double-blind, non-inferiority study.
(PubMed, Front Med (Lausanne))
- P1 | "For anesthesia induction, Group C received an intravenous injection of ciprofol 0.5 mg/kg, alfentanil 20 μg/kg, and vecuronium bromide 0.05 mg/kg; Group P received an intravenous injection of propofol 2 mg/kg, alfentanil 20 μg/kg, and vecuronium bromide 0.05 mg/kg. Ciprofol can be safely used for general anesthesia in pediatric strabismus correction surgery, with non-inferior anesthesia success rate compared with propofol and a lower incidence of adverse reactions. https://www.chictr.org.cn, identifier ChiCTR2300078654."

The Influence of Pharmacological Agents Used During General Anesthesia on the Intensity of Postoperative Pain and the Occurrence of Post-Anesthetic Delirium-A Scoping Review.
(PubMed, J Clin Med)
- "Analysis of clinical trial outcomes conducted in pediatric populations undergoing various surgical procedures suggests that dexmedetomidine (administered intranasally and intravenously) and alfentanil were associated with lower incidence and severity of emergence delirium compared to standard care or other agents (e.g., midazolam)...Hydromorphone was reported in the included trials to be associated with better postoperative pain control than sufentanil, whereas remimazolam, although associated with reduced delirium incidence in some trials, did not influence the length of stay in the post-anesthesia care unit...Ketamine, while commonly used for analgesic therapy, did not demonstrate a consistent association with delirium prevention and, in some studies, was associated with increased neuropsychiatric events. Further research is required to more precisely define optimal perioperative delirium prevention protocols."

Case Report: Esophageal balloon occlusion with a Foley catheter in high-risk sedated gastroscopy.
(PubMed, Front Med (Lausanne))
- "After deepening sedation (MOAA/S score ≤ 2) with propofol and alfentanil (without endotracheal intubation), the endoscopy was performed while the esophageal balloon was gradually deflated under direct visualization...This case suggests that the use of esophageal balloon occlusion with negative-pressure suction was associated with safe, uneventful deep sedation in a patient at high risk of aspiration. The technique may serve as a simple, minimally invasive alternative to endotracheal intubation or awake endoscopy for airway protection in such high-risk patients, though further evaluation in larger studies is warranted."

Effects of different doses of alfentanil on tracheal intubation stress responses in ambulatory hysteroscopic surgery: a randomized, double-blind, clinical comparative study.
(PubMed, Front Med (Lausanne))
- P4 | "The low-dose alfentanil group (group AL) patients received an induction dose of 20 μg/kg alfentanil, the medium-dose alfentanil group (group AM) patients received 30 μg/kg alfentanil, the high-dose alfentanil group (group AH) received 40 μg/kg alfentanil, and the Fentanyl Group (group F) patients received an induction dose of 4 μg/kg fentanyl, with all groups additionally administered midazolam, cisatracurium, and propofol as part of the standardized induction protocol. Anesthesia maintenance was maintained with propofol and remifentanil in all groups...Secondary outcomes included plasma NE and epinephrine (E) levels at baseline (T0, before anesthesia induction), T2 (excluding NE as it was the primary measure), and 5 min post-intubation (T3), along with mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) at T0, the time of the insertion of the tracheal tube (T1), T2, T3, 5 min after the removal of the tracheal tube (T4); additionally, extubation time, awakening time,..."

Evaluation of Therapeutic Opioids in Skin-Derived Matrices (Sweat and Sebum) of Neonatal and Pediatric Patients and Their Role in Opioid Incorporation Into Hair.
(PubMed, Drug Test Anal)
- "These patients had a treatment history with opioids, including fentanyl, sufentanil, remifentanil, alfentanil, morphine, methadone, and hydromorphone. In addition, a correlation was found for fentanyl between concentrations in hair and skin swab samples (r = 0.356, p = 0.0007), indicating a contribution of skin-derived matrices to opioid incorporation into the hair of children and neonates. The comprehensive and clinical nature of this study provides unique value for the generated concentration data and associated findings, providing a potential reference source for future interpretation of hair analysis results."

Optimizing sedation in elderly patients: advantages and challenges of alfentanil-ciprofol for painless gastroscopy.
(PubMed, Am J Transl Res)
- "The use of the traditional narcotic sedation guidelines like fentanyl and propofol is linked to respiratory and circulatory suppression in this at-risk group. Furthermore, we address the challenges inherent to its use in this age group, such as dose individualization and respiratory management, and propose potential solutions. Lastly, we outline future research directions, emphasizing that individualized dosing strategies based on the principles of precision anesthesia will be central to optimizing outcomes for elderly patients."
