Effect of Periplaneta americana Extract on Corneal Fibrosis and Epithelial Healing After Rabbit Lamellar Keratectomy.
(PubMed, Transl Vis Sci Technol)
- "SLK was performed on the right eyes of 48 New Zealand White rabbits, randomized into three treatment groups (n = 16/group): normal saline (NS), Tobradex eye drops (TE), and PAE group...This biphasic regulatory effect may be attributed to promoting TGF-β1 expression in the early stage, followed by its inhibition in the later stages. PAE modulates TGF-β1 to balance corneal healing and fibrosis as a novel topical corticosteroid alternative, warranting human trials for its dual-phase healing/scarring action."

Effect of Topical Application of Dexamethasone on CC Chemokine Receptor 3 Expression in Human Pterygium.
(PubMed, J Ocul Pharmacol Ther)
- " Forty cases of patients with pterygium were divided into a dexamethasone group and a control group, which were treated topically with 3 g/L tobramycin + dexamethasone or 3 g/L tobramycin eye drops in the surgical eyes 2 weeks before surgery... CCR3 signaling may play an important role in the pathogenesis of pterygium. The proangiogenic and profibrotic functions of CCR3 signaling may be by promoting tube formation and proliferation of vascular endothelial cells and promoting proliferation and migration of fibroblasts."

Acute Central Toxic Keratopathy Induced by Exposure to Chinese Herbal Medicine Fluid for Verruca Plana: A Case Report.
(PubMed, Case Rep Ophthalmol Med)
- "Thus, tobramycin dexamethasone eye drops and artificial tears were prescribed for her, which proved effective. Her clinical symptoms and signs were both resolved after steroid treatment and remained stable at the 1-month follow-up. Acute central toxic keratopathy could occur after exposure to Chinese herbal medicine fluid, and enhanced topical steroid treatment worked well for alleviating inflammation and reducing corneal opacity."

Effect of pranoprofen, tobramycin and dexamethasone combination on recurrence prevention and tear inflammatory factors after pterygium surgery.
(PubMed, Pak J Pharm Sci)
- "At 6-month follow-up, recurrence rates were comparable (1.85% vs. 9.43%, P>0.05), though the observation group trended lower. In conclusion, Pranoprofen + tobramycin/dexamethasone offers enhanced pain control, tear function and anti-inflammatory effects, with a potential recurrence-lowering benefit, supporting its clinical utility in pterygium management."

Comparison of Tobramycin-Dexamethasone Combination Eyedrop Versus Artificial Tear Eyedrop for the Management of Presumed Viral Epidemic Conjunctivitis: A Randomized Treatment Trial.
(PubMed, Curr Eye Res)
- "To compare the efficacy and safety of one-time povidone-iodine (PovI) administration followed by a course of tobramycin-dexamethasone eye drops versus artificial tears in acute viral conjunctivitis (AVC). A course of tobramycin-dexamethasone combination eyedrops after PovI may lead to early symptomatic relief, but recovery was similar to artificial tears by day 7. No significant/sight-threatening complications were observed in any groups."

The Potential Role of Topical Losartan in Reducing Subepithelial Haze in Traumatic Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) Flap Avulsion.
(PubMed, Cureus)
- "A bandage contact lens was placed combined with moxifloxacin eye drops...The patient was continued on moxifloxacin four times a day (QID) and transitioned to Tobradex drops QID at day nine with improvement in UDVA to 20/30-2...Topical losartan 0.8 mg/mL was added six times per day along with fluorometholone two times a day (BID)...Uncorrected visual acuity after LASIK flap amputation is generally favorable, especially if corneal haze can be prevented. Topical losartan has anti-fibrotic activity through inhibition of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) signaling pathway, and in conjunction with topical steroids, may be effective in improving corneal haze in patients with a traumatic LASIK flap amputation."

Unilateral Iris Transillumination Resembling BAIT Phenotype Following Contralateral Vitrectomy.
(PubMed, Case Rep Ophthalmol Med)
- "Postoperative topical treatment of tobramycin/dexamethasone was administered. To the best of our knowledge, this case is the first to show a unilateral phenotype of BAIT after contralateral vitrectomy. This suggests that previous vitrectomy, injection of vancomycin, or topical corticosteroids or chloramphenicol could be protective against the development of acute iris transillumination."

Dropless vitrectomy surgery for epiretinal membranes; Efficacy and safety compared to standard of care
(ARVO 2025)
- "Methods A retrospective review was conducted on patients who underwent PPV for ERM removal.Group 1 received an intravitreal injection of Tri-Moxi (0.3mL, delivering 4.5mg triamcinolone acetonide & 0.3mg moxifloxacin) at the conclusion of surgery.Group 2 received a standard postoperative regimen of Tobradex eye drops every 4 hours for 1 week, tapered over 5 additional weeks(6 weeks total)...This method facilitates the direct delivery of concentrated anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agents to the retina and vitreous cavity, where these effects are most beneficial after PPV. In our study, we demonstrated that administering a low dose of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide directly into the vitreous effectively achieves therapeutic levels for managing postoperative inflammation following PPV for ERM removal."

Use of Pranoprofen After Strabismus Surgery in Children.
(PubMed, J Clin Med)
- "Patients were divided into three groups of 30 patients according to the method of topical postoperative treatment (group I: tobramycin, pranoprofen, dexpanthenol; group II: tobramycin, dexamethasone, dexpanthenol; group III: tobramycin, pranoprofen, dexamethasone, dexpanthenol)... Pranoprofen used postoperatively is as effective as a glucocorticosteroid, and from our observations, carries fewer complications in cases requiring prolonged use of the anti-inflammatory treatment. Systematic postoperative follow-up is essential for the diagnosis and possible management of postsurgical complications."

Efficacy of 0.05% Cyclosporine-A eye drops (II) and 3% Diquafosol ophthalmic solution in the treatment of dry eye after cataract surgery.
(PubMed, Pak J Med Sci)
- "Patients were divided into three groups based on the treatment: Conventional group (tobramycin & dexamethasone eye drops combined with pranoprofen eye drops, n=41), DQS group (3% DQS based on the conventional treatment, n=42), and CsA group (0.05% CsA eye drops(II) based on the conventional treatment, n=40). However, these indexes were comparable in the DQS and the CsA group (P>0.05). Compared to the conventional treatment alone, the addition of 3% DQS or 0.05% CsA eye drops (II) to the conventional treatment both are effective and might more effectively alleviate DE in patients undergoing CS."

Epi Off Pack-Cxl As Treatment For Acanthamoeba Epitheliopathy
(ESCRS 2024)
- "These symptoms occurred 10 days before and partially remised with tobramycin-dexamethasone ophthalmic suspension...It could be debated whether Acanthamoeba epitheliopathy might be effectively resolved only through epithelial removal enhanced by CXL, without requiring prolonged use of biguanide. To conclude, the early stage of Acanthamoeba keratitis marks a critical window in clinical management: corneal debridement, CXL and antiseptics provide a valid therapeutic option to eradicate infection confined to epithelium."
