Change in the Morphology of Alloy Corrosion Products Based on the FeAl Intermetallic Phase After Oxidation in Water Vapor at a Temperature of 700 °C for up to 2000 h.
(PubMed, Materials (Basel))
- "The surface of the Fe40Al5Cr0.2TiB alloy, after oxidation in steam at 700 °C, showed a varied morphology dependent on oxidation time...Optical profilometry revealed a significant increase in roughness parameters (Ra and Rz) after long-term exposure (2000 h), which correlates with the thickening and sinterization of the oxide layer. The obtained results indicate that in a water vapor environment, a stable α-Al2O3 phase can already be formed at a temperature of 700 °C, and its development leads to increased roughness."

Variations of heterometallic cores and magnetic properties in Co(iii)-Y/Ln isobutyrate clusters with N-butyldiethanolamine: from tetranuclear to octanuclear clusters.
(PubMed, RSC Adv)
- "The series includes tetranuclear [Co2M2(OH)2(ib)4(bdea)2(NO3)2]·2MeCN (M(III) = Y (1), Ho (2), Er (3)), pentanuclear [Co3M2(OH)(ib)5(bdea)3(NO3)3]·nMeCN (M(iii) = Pr (n = 1.5, 4), Nd (n = 1.5, 5), Sm (n = 2, 6)), hexanuclear [Co2Eu4(OH)2(ib)8(bdea)2(NO3)4(H2O)2]·(7) and [Co3Yb3(OH)4(ib)6(bdea)3(H2O)3](NO3)2·3MeCN·1.5H2O (8), and octanuclear [Co4M4(OH)4(ib)8(bdea)4(NO3)4] (M(iii) = Gd (9), Tb (10)) clusters...AC magnetic data show relevant out-of-phase signals only for 3 below 4 K and by application of static magnetic bias fields. First principles calculations have been performed to estimate the magnetic anisotropy energies of the prepared compounds and to calculate the exchange coupling between the lanthanides in them."

Oxidation of the Alloy Based on the Intermetallic Phase FeAl in the Temperature Range of 700-1000 °C in Air and Possibilities of Practical Application.
(PubMed, Materials (Basel))
- "In this way, conditions were created that fundamentally changed the surface condition (structure and physicochemical properties) of the system: steel as a substrate-intermetallic phase Fe40Al5Cr0.2TiB as a surfacing layer, in order to increase resistance to high-temperature corrosion and erosion (in the environment of gases and solid impurities in gases) often occurring in corrosive environments, especially in the power industry (boilers, pipes, installation elbows) and the chemical industry (fittings). At the same time, the surfacing method used is one of the cheapest methods of changing the surface properties of the material and regenerating or repairing the native material with a material with better properties, especially for applications in high-temperature corrosion conditions."

Structure and Corrosion Resistance of Fe40Al5Cr0.2TiB Alloy After Casting and After Homogenization Annealing.
(PubMed, Materials (Basel))
- "This alloy showed a more non-homogeneous and coarse-grained microstructure compared to the alloy after homogenization annealing. The investigation of the surface condition of FeAl alloys after corrosion tests showed the presence of pits, particularly in the case of the alloy after casting."

The Impact of Interceptor G2 & PermaNet 3.0 Insecticidal Treated Nets on Entomological transmission indicators in Gaya & Guidimouni, Niger, West Africa
(ASTMH 2024)
- "In Guidimouni, EIR was 4.8 ib/p/m in 2021 with >70% reduction following the ITN campaign in 2022 (1,2 ib/p/m) but then rose to 1.9 ib/p/m in 2023...Pre-exposure to PBO synergist increased mortality of mosquitoes but only fully restored susceptibility to alpha-cypermethrin and deltamethrin in 2023. The overall data suggest that ITN types have an impact on entomological transmission indicators, though monitoring for an additional year is necessary to determine whether efficacy of nets reduces two years after deployment."

Construction of Cell Membrane Chromatography Screening Materials Based on Avi-Tag Fused G Protein-Coupled Receptors.
(PubMed, Anal Chem)
- "Our study showed that 2-iminobiotin (IB) can be a BirA substrate, enabling the development of a new cell membrane stationary phase (CMSP) based on the chemical properties (modifying carboxyl silica gel and specifically labeling the Avi tag) of IB...Our IB-Avi tag-based CMC approach effectively decreased nonspecific adsorption of the screening materials. The Avi-tag-based 2D/CMC platform is suitable for screening potential drug candidates."

Entomological survey of sibling species in the Anopheles funestus group in Tanzania confirms the role of Anopheles parensis as a secondary malaria vector.
(PubMed, Parasit Vectors)
- "Whereas An. funestus s.s. is the dominant malaria vector in the Funestus group in Tanzania, this survey confirms the occurrence of Plasmodium-infected An. parensis, an observation previously made in at least two other occasions in the country. The findings indicate the need to better understand the ecology and vectorial capacity of this and other secondary malaria vectors in the region to improve malaria control."

The role of the major viral pathogens in a respiratory disease outbreak of broiler flocks in Eastern Iran.
(PubMed, Iran J Vet Res)
- "Variant 2 IB viruses were widely distributed in the province and half of them were mostly similar to the ones that had been detected in northern neighboring province, Khorasan Razavi...The high coverage and multiple doses of vaccination against Newcastle disease possibly had reduced the prevalence of NDV. Considering the regional origin of IBV strains, strong biosecurity measures should be implemented and vaccination programs using appropriate vaccine strains should be used."

2-iminobiotin, a selective inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase, improves memory and learning in a rat model after four vessel occlusion, mimicking cardiac arrest.
(PubMed, PLoS One)
- "Adult rats treated s.c. with 3 gifts of 2-IB every 12 h in a dose range of 1.1-30 mg/kg/dose directly upon reperfusion showed significant improved memory and learning after four vessel occlusion compared to vehicle-treated rats. Since 2-IB has already shown to be safe in a phase 1 clinical trial in adult human volunteers, it is a suitable candidate for translation to a human phase 2 study after OHCA."

Urban malaria vector bionomics and human sleeping behavior in three cities in Senegal.
(PubMed, Parasit Vectors)
- "Anopheles arabiensis was the primary malaria vector in the three surveyed cities. The species showed an outdoor biting tendency, which represents a risk for the large proportion of the population sleeping outdoors. As all current vector control measures implemented in the country target endophilic vectors, these data highlight potential gaps in population protection and call for complementary tools and approaches targeting outdoor biting malaria vectors."
