Efficacy and Safety of Bovine Lactoferrin for the Prevention and Treatment of Sepsis in Infants: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (ACG 2026) - "We included 13 studies with a total of 8,485 participants (Lactoferone group:4,169; Control group: 4,289). Lactoferone group was associated with a significantly reduced risk of Late-onset sepsis (RR=0.79, 95%CI:[0.63, 0.98], P=0.03), sepsis (RR=0.17, 95%CI:[0.03,0.99], P=0.05), and ROP (RR=0.6, 95%CI:[0.43, 0.99], P=0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the risk of invasive fungal infection (RR=0.25, 95%CI:[0.04,1.64], P=0.15), necrotizing enterocolitis (RR=0.67, 95%CI:[0.41,1.09], P=0.10), BPD (RR=0.99, 95%CI:[0.89, 1.11], P=0.91), and all-cause mortality (RR=0.98, 95%CI:[0.75,1.27], P=0.86)."
