Protectin DX resolves fracture-induced postoperative pain in mice via neuronal signaling and GPR37-activated macrophage efferocytosis.
(PubMed, J Clin Invest)
- "While dexamethasone and meloxicam prolonged fPOP, PDX shortened the pain duration. Finally, PDX rapidly modulated nociceptor neuron responses by suppressing C-fiber-induced muscle reflex in vivo and calcium responses in DRG neurons ex vivo and by reducing TRPA1/TRPV1-induced acute pain and neurogenic inflammation in vivo. Our findings highlight multiple benefits of PDX to manage postoperative pain and promote perioperative recovery."

Linear IgA Bullous Dermatosis in an Elderly Patient Following Meloxicam and Candesartan Use: A Case Report.
(PubMed, Cureus)
- "Linear immunoglobulin A (IgA) bullous dermatosis (LABD) is a rare autoimmune blistering disorder characterized by subepidermal blisters and linear IgA deposition along the dermo-epidermal junction (DEJ). After discontinuation of the suspected culprit drug and adjustment of her antihypertensive therapy, she was treated with oral dapsone 1 mg/kg (50 mg) daily for two weeks, resulting in clinical improvement. This case underscores the importance of thorough drug history taking and early recognition of drug-induced LABD, particularly in patients on multiple medications, where identifying the true offending agent may be challenging."

A comparison of short-term analgesic effects of xylazine alone or combined with levomethadone or ketamine in calves after hot-iron disbudding.
(PubMed, J Dairy Sci)
- "All calves received subcutaneous meloxicam (0.5 mg/kg) and a local anesthetic (procaine hydrochloride, 4.5 mg/kg) 15 min before heat cauterization of the horn buds. The findings from this preliminary study suggest that the combination of levomethadone with low-dose xylazine provided superior short-term pain control and improved postdisbudding comfort compared with ketamine-xylazine or xylazine alone. However, given the limited sample size, these results should be interpreted with caution, and larger-scale studies are needed to confirm whether incorporating opioids into sedation protocols can reliably enhance calf welfare following disbudding."

Role of Cytokines in Wound Healing Following Wound Catheter Analgesia in Rats.
(PubMed, Vet Sci)
- "Meloxicam and buprenorphine increased TGF-β1 expression, but their vascular effects differed considerably. Meloxicam induced a marked increase in angiogenesis, but the newly formed vessels were structurally immature, displaying uniformly narrow lumina and poor architectural organisation, which led to their subsequent regression. In contrast, buprenorphine supported the formation of more mature vascular structures, characterised by wider vessel lumina and a more organised vascular network. These findings demonstrate that adjuvants used with levobupivacaine can significantly modify angiogenic and apoptotic responses and should be carefully considered when selecting multimodal local analgesia strategies after surgery."

(PubMed, J Am Vet Med Assoc)
- "All dogs were premedicated with dexmedetomidine and meloxicam, anesthetized with propofol, and maintained with sevoflurane under spontaneous ventilation...The number of fentanyl boluses did not differ between groups...EP and QL blocks with 1% lidocaine provided comparable anesthetic stability and postoperative analgesia in dogs premedicated with dexmedetomidine and meloxicam undergoing OVH. EP and QL blocks with 1% lidocaine provided similar anesthetic and analgesic effects, with the EP technique requiring less equipment and patient manipulation."
