A phase I trial of chemotherapy followed by infusions of activated T cells armed with anti-CD3 and anti-HER2 bispecific antibody for stage III, Her2+ or Her2- breast cancer
(SABCS 2017)
- "The BAT T-cells exhibit anti-HER2 cytotoxicity, proliferate, and secrete immunokines upon tumor engagement. Targeting HER2 positive and negative tumors induced cytotoxic anti-tumor responses, increases in Th1 cytokines and IL-12 serum levels. The prolonged survival in a high risk population suggests that BAT infusions provided a clinical benefit. These results are being confirmed in a phase II trial for metastatic breast cancer."

New Experimental Installation to Determine Adsorptive Properties of Magnesium Sulphate.
(PubMed, Materials (Basel))
- "In this paper, a novel instrument is described, which is capable of determining the macrokinetic properties of an adsorbent composite, with better control and higher accuracy than gravimetric, volumetric, or barometric installations, and lower price and complexity than spectroscopic installations. The design of the installation is detailed, highlighting the main challenges and critical factors. The two working modes of the installation are described, and one example is provided and analyzed for each of them."

Research on the oxidation characteristics of zinc sulfite in the zinc oxide desulfurization process.
(PubMed, Environ Technol)
- "The apparent activation energy E obtained for the two samples are 8.662 and 9.645 kJ/mol, respectively. Integrated with the kinetic model, the oxidation rate of zinc sulfite is controlled by the diffusion of HSO and O to the gas-liquid interface."

Simultaneous biodegradation of methane and styrene in biofilters packed with inorganic supports: Experimental and macrokinetic study.
(PubMed, Chemosphere)
- "Average CH removal efficiencies (RE) varying between 64 and 100% were obtained at CH-ILs increasing from 7 to 60 gCH m h and for CH-ILs range of 0-32 gCH m h. More than 90% of CH was removed in the bottom and middle beds of the biofilters. By increasing CH-IL from 0 to 32 gCH m h, maximal EC in Michaelis-Menten model and macrokinetic saturation constant declined from 311 to 39 g m h and from 19 to 2.3 g m, respectively, which confirmed that an uncompetitive inhibition occurred during CH biofiltration in the presence of CH."

Development and evaluation of a new triplex immunoassay that detects Group A Streptococcus antibodies for the diagnosis of rheumatic fever.
(PubMed, J Clin Microbiol)
- "However, for anti-SpnA there was a significant decrease (P<0.05) in the 28+ day group, indicative of faster anti-SpnA antibody decay. Anti-SpnA immunokinetics support very recent Group A Streptococcus infection, and may assist in diagnostic classification of ARF. Further, bead-based assays enable streptococcal serology to be performed efficiently in a high-throughput manner."

Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Shungite against Ultraviolet B Irradiation-Induced Skin Damage in Hairless Mice.
(PubMed, Oxid Med Cell Longev)
- "...Second, the immunokine profiling in mouse serum and skin lysates showed a reduction in the proinflammatory response in the shungite-treated groups...Last, we have confirmed the involvement of Nrf2- and MAPK-mediated oxidative stress pathways in the antioxidant mechanism of shungite. Collectively, the results clearly show that shungite has an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action against UVB-induced skin damage in hairless mice."

Cytokines in the Treatment of Cancer.
(PubMed, J Interferon Cytokine Res)
- "To circumvent these impediments, cytokines are being investigated clinically with new engineered cytokine mutants (superkines), chimeric antibody-cytokine fusion proteins (immunokines), anticancer vaccines, CPIs, and cancer-directed monoclonal antibodies to increase their antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity or sustain cellular responses and anticancer efficacy. In this review, we summarize current knowledge and clinical application of cytokines either as monotherapy or in combination with other biological agents. We emphasize a discussion of future directions for research on these cytokines, to bring them to fruition as major contributors for the treatment of metastatic malignancy."

Clinical implications of monitoring nivolumab immunokinetics in non-small cell lung cancer patients.
(PubMed, JCI Insight)

Therapeutic effects of duck Tembusu virus capsid protein fused with staphylococcal nuclease protein to target Tembusu infection in vitro.
(PubMed, Vet Microbiol)
- "The commercially available live vaccines for treating TMUV currently include the main WF100, HB, and FX2010-180P strains, and efficient treatment and/or preventative measures are still urgently needed...As anticipated, these results suggest that these fusion proteins contribute to viral resistance to treatment. Thus, CTVI might be applicable for TMUV inhibition as a novel antiviral therapeutic candidate during viral infection."

Synchrotron in situ studies of mechanical activation treatment and γ-radiation impact on structural-phase transitions and high-temperature synthesis parameters during the formation of γ-(TiAl) compound.
(PubMed, J Synchrotron Radiat)
- "The impact of preliminary mechanical activation and of γ-irradiation on the macrokinetic parameters of the synthesis were studied experimentally in situ. A single-phase equilibrium product of the composition γ-(TiAl) is formed in γ-irradiated mechanically activated mixture when the system reaches maximum temperature. The synthesized product of the mechanically activated mixture without γ-irradiation contains 72% γ-(TiAl); TiAl (26%) and residual Ti (2%) are also observed."
