Management of Postdural Puncture Headache in a Patient on Anticoagulation
(ASRA-PM 2017)
- "...Two long cotton-tipped applicators with 5% lidocaine jelly were applied to each nostril and advanced posteriorly until resistance was met...The last Lovenox dose had been given 24 hours prior so an EBP was performed at L4-L5 with 20mL of autologous blood...While this patient reported only mild and temporary relief from the block, it was an appropriate and temporizing option for her at the time due to recent anticoagulation. Hence, topical sphenopalatine ganglion block may a less invasive option for cases in which EBP is contraindicated to relieve PDPH."

Lid splinting eyelid retraction technique: a minimised sterile approach for intravitreal injections.
(PubMed, Br J Ophthalmol)
- "The technique of eyelid retraction for intravitreal injection has a low rate of endophthalmitis, similar to the reported rates using a metal lid speculum. This is beneficial for both the physician and the patient as it minimises patient discomfort as well as the duration of the procedure. To our knowledge, this is one of the largest studies performed to date evaluating intravitreal injection-related endophthalmitis."

Intracameral mydriatics and analgesics in cataract surgery
(SOE 2017)
- "Purpose: The objective of the study was to evaluate if intracameral injection of Mydrane (tropicamide 0,02%, phenylephrine 0,31% and lidocaine 1%) is as safe and effective as conventional topical mydriatics and analgesics for cataract surgery?... This study demonstrates that Mydrane can be safe and effective alternative to a standard topical mydriatics and analgesics and helps to maintain adequate mydriasis during cataract surgery without intra-operative pupil constriction even in patients with glaucoma and pseudoexfoliation syndrome."

Traditionally, progressive vaginal dilatation for desensitisation, sexual education, psycho-sexual therapy to reduce fear, negative conditioning and phobia, hypnotherapy, and biofeedback generally produced good outcome."
