Brucellosis-associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis: a case report and literature review.
(PubMed, Front Med (Lausanne))
- "Consequently, the patient was given anti-infection (doxycycline, levofloxacin, etimicin, and rifampin), glucocorticoids (GCs), human immunoglobulin (HIG), and other symptomatic supportive treatments, which ultimately improved his condition. Despite the generally poor prognosis of HLH patients, those with Brucella-induced HLH may have a favorable outcome with prompt intervention. Conversely, a delayed treatment could increase the risk of HLH onset and progression, leading to death in severe cases."

Reactive oxygen species drive aging-associated microplastic release in diverse infusion ingredients.
(PubMed, J Hazard Mater)
- "Infusion fluids containing moxifloxacin hydrochloride, etimicin sulfate, and sodium bicarbonate ringer's solution generated more reactive oxygen species than those containing sodium chloride, grape sugar, and glucose and sodium chloride. Overall, this study provides knowledge of the mechanisms underlying MP release from infusion bags during storage and transportation. This offers insight for optimizing the use and handling of infusion bags in medical settings to minimize contamination."

Peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis caused by Coxiella Burnetii: A case report.
(PubMed, Medicine (Baltimore))
- "Vigilance should be heightened for PDAP cases with negative culture of PD fluid and poor response to standard broad-spectrum antibiotic treatment, along with a history of cattle and sheep breeding. In such conditions, PD effluent should be tested to detect possible peritonitis caused by C. burnetii, even in patients without symptoms of fever. Prompt pathogen identification and appropriate treatment are crucial for clinical improvement of such cases."

A phase I clinical study: evaluation of safety, tolerability, and population pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic target attainment analysis of etimicin sulfate among healthy Chinese participants.
(PubMed, Int J Antimicrob Agents)
- "The PTA results showed that etimicin sulfate provided clinical improvement against strains with MIC of 0.5-1 mg/l and below, and antibacterial effect against strains with MIC of 0.25 mg/l and below. However, etimicin sulfate had limited clinical efficacy for clinical isolates with MIC values > 1 mg/l."

Quantitative analysis of the impurities in Etimicin using hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography coupled with charged aerosol detector.
(PubMed, J Pharm Biomed Anal)
- "This method has also been proven to be effective in separating impurities from two other typical AGs, Isepamicin and Amikacin. The developed HILIC-CAD quantification method was sensitive, accurate and highly selective for quantitative analysis of impurities in the AGs without need ion-pairing reagents, which is ensure the public medication safety. The method is first reported application of HILIC-CAD method for quantitative analysis of the impurities in AGs."

Rhodococcus equi and Brucella pulmonary mass in immunocompetent: A case report and literature review.
(PubMed, Open Life Sci)
- "Initial therapy with levofloxacin and vancomycin proved ineffective; however, a subsequent treatment regimen comprising azithromycin, etimicin, minocycline, and moxifloxacin resulted in substantial clinical improvement. This case accentuates the intricacies involved in diagnosing and managing atypical co-infections in immunocompetent individuals and underscores the importance of careful microbiological testing to inform effective therapeutic strategies."

In vitro susceptibility of Neisseria gonorrhoeae to netilmicin and etimicin in comparison to gentamicin and other aminoglycosides.
(PubMed, Eur J Clin Microbiol Infect Dis)
- "Selectively enriched gentamicin formulations hold promise for a less toxic but equally efficacious alternative to gentamicin. Our study warrants additional consideration of the clinically established netilmicin and etimicin for treatment of genital and perhaps extragenital gonorrhea. Additional studies are required to elucidate the mechanism behind the advantage of alkylated aminoglycosides."

Inter-Relationship Between a Transcriptional Regulator of Flagella Genes cj0440c and Thiamine Metabolic Pathway in Campylobacter jejuni.
(PubMed, Biomed Res Int)
- "The findings of the study showed that cj0440c and other flagella-related genes were expressed differentially under the influence of various antibiotics including erythromycin, tylosin, azithromycin, gentamicin, etimicin, enrofloxacin, gatifloxacin, tetracycline, and tigecycline. The analysis showed that the cj0440c protein did not catalyze the degradation of thiamine. In conclusion, the study aids in the understanding of the inter-relationship between the regulatory mechanism of flagella genes and the thiamine metabolic pathway."

UPLC-MS/MS Method for Simultaneous Determination of 14 Antimicrobials in Human Plasma and Cerebrospinal Fluid: Application to Therapeutic Drug Monitoring.
(PubMed, J Anal Methods Chem)
- "This study aimed to develop a rapid and simple ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method for simultaneous quantification of 14 antibiotics (amikacin, etimicin, ceftazidime, cefepime, cefoperazone, ceftriaxone, daptomycin, latamoxef, linezolid, meropenem, biapenem, ampicillin, norvancomycin, and vancomycin) in human plasma and cerebrospinal fluid. The method was verified according to the FDA bioanalysis method validation guidelines, which showed excellent accuracy (from 86.75% to 110.85%) and precision (from 0.46% to 10.97%). At last, this method was successfully applied to therapeutic drug monitoring in 113 patients under antibiotics treatment."

Efficacy of Etimicin Sulfate Combined with Cefotaxime Sodium in the Treatment of Patients with Septic Shock and Effect on Serum Inflammatory Factor Levels and Immune Function.
(PubMed, Evid Based Complement Alternat Med)
- "There was no significant difference between the total incidence of adverse reactions in the research group (15.69%) and the control group (9.09%) (p > 0.05). Compared with cefotaxime sodium alone, the treatment of etimicin sulfate combined with cefotaxime sodium is more effective in improving the coagulation function and cellular immune function of patients with septic shock, reducing the level of serum inflammatory factors, and having higher clinical treatment effective."

A new aminoglycoside etimicin shows low nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity in zebrafish embryos.
(PubMed, J Appl Toxicol)
- "Inside the hair cells, gentamicin, not etimicin and amikacin, displays robust reactive oxygen species generation and induces apoptosis. Our data support that the different intracellular cytotoxicity underlies the different ototoxicity of the three aminoglycosides and that etimicin is a new aminoglycoside with reduced risk of nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity."

Mechanisms and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic profiles underlying the low nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity of etimicin.
(PubMed, Acta Pharmacol Sin)
- "In the present study we compared the antibacterial and toxicity profiles of etimicin, gentamicin (GM, a second-generation AG), and amikacin (AMK, a third-generation AG), and investigated their pharmacokinetic properties in the toxicity target organs (kidney and inner ear) and subcellular compartments. Our results demonstrate that the minimal otonephrotoxicity of ETM results from its lesser accumulation in mitochondria of target cells and subsequently lesser inhibition of mitochondrial function. These results provide a new strategy for discovering novel AGs with high efficacy and low toxicity."
