Intra-articular methylprednisolone acetate does not induce hyperinsulinemia or hyperglycemia in metabolically normal horses.
(PubMed, J Am Vet Med Assoc)
- "Reported practitioner sentiment that IA MPA carries a lower risk for corticosteroid-induced laminitis may relate to the lack of postinjection hyperinsulinemia noted in this study. However, additional work in insulin-dysregulated and/or laminitis-prone horses is required before IA MPA should be considered safe to use in these horses."

Ultrasound guided pain interventions for management of medically challenged Neuropathic Pain- a case series
(ASRA-FALL 2025)
- "USG guided tibial nerve block with 0.25% bupivacaine and 40 mg depomedrol on each side...Ulnar nerve block with 0.2% Ropivacaine and 80mg of ü methyl prednisolone ü Case 1: ü Patient reported 90% and 100% symptom relief on right and left side respectively immediately after the posterior tibial MIPSI...In all these cases, a variety of neuropathic pain medications were tried, definitive pain interventional procedures were also practiced. However when they did not provide adequate pain relief or in cases of residual pain after the main procedure, ultrasound guided peripheral nerve blocks played a huge role in such refractory challenging chronic pain conditions."

Clemens von Pirquet Award - 2nd Place - Practical Evaluation of Biologic Hypersensitivity in a Drug Allergy Clinic: A 10-Year Review
(ACAAI 2025)
- "Results Twenty-three unique biologics were implicated (Table), most commonly Ustekinumab (10, 16.1%), Evolocumab (7, 11.3%), and Infliximab (6, 9.7%)...Testing was done in 25 cases (40.3%), including 20 skin tests (18 to excipients, 2 to the biologic), all negative except one positive for methylprednisolone acetate...Most hypersensitivity to biologics seems unlikely to be excipient-related. Premedication, modified use, and alternative biologics can be effectively identified to ensure continued treatment."

Does Intra-Operative Posterior Facet Steroid Injection in Lumbar Laminectomy Decreases Post-Operative Low Back Pain? A randomized Clinical Trial.
(PubMed, Arch Bone Jt Surg)
- "Patients were randomly allocated into two groups, one receiving a 2-ml injection of 80mg/2ml methylprednisolone acetate into the facets intraoperatively (n=25), the other receiving no injection (n=25)...Our research indicates that combining steroid infiltration of the facet joints with simple laminectomy does not provide significant advantages beyond possibly expediting recovery. Studies with larger sample sizes are needed to reach the best conclusions for patients with lumbar spinal stenosis."

Comparison of Efficacy of Autologous Blood Injection versus Steroid Injection in Treatment of Lateral Epicondylitis: A Comparative Study.
(PubMed, J Orthop Case Rep)
- "Using simple randomization, patients were assigned to Group A (methylprednisolone acetate 40 mg with 1 mL 2% lignocaine) or Group B (2 mL autologous venous blood from the opposite arm). Pain relief stratified by age, sex, symptom duration, and baseline VAS score showed significant improvement in both groups, with greater improvement in Group B. No acute or late complications were observed. AB injection provides superior and more sustained pain relief than steroid injection in patients with lateral epicondylitis."

A Second Look at the Use of VersaWrap® Nerve Protector in Spine Surgery: A Case Report.
(PubMed, Cureus)
- "The presence of severe epidural fibrosis (EF) during a spinal revision procedure increases the risk of interoperative complications and post-operative success. We present a retrospective series of one surgeon's standard of care application of VersaWrap® Nerve Protector (Alafair Biosciences, Inc., Austin, TX, USA) in 169 lumbar decompressions in conjunction with Depo-Medrol (80 mg) and Marcaine/epinephrine (1 mL) to manage scar tissue tethering of the nerve root to the surrounding tissues. Of the 169 total lumbar decompression procedures, there were zero (0) complications reported for VersaWrap in conjunction with the medicinal agents in the dosages reported. A representative case of a patient who later underwent a revision procedure is highlighted to allow a second-look assessment of the initial VersaWrap application. The surgeon's experience was that VersaWrap bioresorbed completely and that any scar tissue present was easy to..."
