LENTICULE EXTRACTION LEADS TO ALTERED SUBJECTIVE SYMPTOMS AND TEAR FILM BIOMARKERS CHANGES
(ESCRS-WM 2024)
- "Postoperatively, unpreserved ofloxacin and dexamethasone eye drops were given (four times a day for 10 days). Some patients reported increased discomfort after lenticule extraction. However, due to incongruity of patient symptoms, clinical signs, and tear protein changes, no predictive indicator was found. Therefore, changes after lenticule extraction are not exclusively due to dry eye and may be referred to as "Surgical Temporary Ocular Discomfort Syndrome (STODS)"."

Effects of Postoperative Atropine Eye Drops on Visual Quality in Patients Undergoing Trabeculectomy.
(PubMed, J Clin Med)
- "Forty patients undergoing standard trabeculectomy with mitomycin C were enrolled in this prospective randomized study...All patients received the same postoperative treatment with ofloxacin and dexamethasone eye drops...This reduction was greater in severity and duration in patients who received postoperative atropine eye drops. Thus, unless there is an underlying medical necessity, we would discourage the application of atropine as a standard therapy for trabeculectomy surgery."

Keratin films for ocular surface reconstruction: Wound healing in an in-vivo model.
(PubMed, Exp Eye Res)
- "All eyes were treated with ofloxacin and dexamethasone eye drops and followed up for 10 days. Histology showed a multilayer epithelium firmly adherent to the KF with no evidence of keratocyte migration or inflammatory reaction in the corneal stroma. In this study on rabbit eyes KF better supported corneal epithelial wound healing than amniotic membrane."
