Poster Session: Achromatic biases in noise images.
(PubMed, J Vis)
- "(Current Bio 2015) examined the effects of luminance on the perceived color categories selected for uniform square patches...The perceived achromatic gamut for the noise again tended to vary along bluish-yellowish directions, but was markedly broader compared to the uniform patches. The broadening of the gray category may partly reflect attributions of some of the color to the illuminant, a tendency which may be stronger in the spatially variegated patterns."

Preclinical antitumor activity of an anti-HER2/Trop-2 bispecific antibody-drug conjugate with a new DNA topoisomerase I inhibitor.
(ASCO 2023)
- "BIO-201 also showed similar anti-tumor activity to Herceptin-DXd. Taken together, these findings suggest that anti-HER2/Trop-2 bispecific ADC has potential as an effective therapy for a variety of cancers that co-express HER2/Trop-2 or express either of the targets. BIO-201 may be expected to have a similar clinical activity to Enhertu or Trodelvy but treat more patient sub-populations and indications."

Anti-Inflammatory Effects and Photo- and Neuro-Protective Properties of BIO203, a New Amide Conjugate of Norbixin, in Development for the Treatment of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD).
(PubMed, Int J Mol Sci)
- "9'-cis-norbixin (norbixin/BIO201) protects RPE cells against phototoxicity induced by blue light and N-retinylidene-N-retinylethanolamine (A2E) in vitro and preserves visual functions in animal models of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in vivo...In conclusion, we report here that BIO203 and norbixin share similar modes of action and protective effects in vitro and in vivo. BIO203, with its improved pharmacokinetic and stability properties, could be developed for the treatment of retinal degenerative diseases such as AMD."

Missing Anatomy Background: Microlearning Can Help.
(PubMed, FASEB J)
- "The microlearning method is a workable technique that has a good effect on healthcare students in multiple aspects such as studying, memorizing, and performing procedures (De Gagne, 2019). In our experience, the overall satisfaction was 6.1/10. We identified many technical issues which affected the performance of the technique. We believe that this technique can help students without previous anatomy background; 73% of students responded "Content" helped achieve goals. The next step will identify a better platform and measure outcomes between groups. REF: De Gagne JC, Park HK, Hall K, Woodward A, Yamane S, Kim SS. Inhibiting contractility using an in vitro model of proliferative vitreoretinopathy
(ARVO 2022)
- "A p38 inhibitor (Comms Bio 2019; 2: 1-14) and nicotinamide (Stem Cell Rep 2020; 14: 631-647) prevented these aggressive contractile masses in RPE... Both the p38 inhibitor and nicotinamide prevented membrane contraction showing promise to become a therapeutic treatment for patients at risk of developing PVR and individuals with already formed membranes, both treatments warrant further study in an in vivo model of PVR."

[VIRTUAL] Recurrent Crebbp Mutations in Follicular Lymphoma Appear Localized to the Committed B-Cell Lineage
(ASH 2020)
- "Chromatin modifying genes (CMGs) including KMT2D, CREBBP, EZH2, and EP300 are almost ubiquitously mutated in FL. HSCs are believed to be the cell of origin in several lymphoid leukemias, and mouse models have demonstrated lymphoma development with induced CREBBP lesions in HSCs (Horton et al Nat Cell Bio 2017). However, in sorted hematopoietic cell populations from marrow and peripheral blood, we observed CREBBP mutations in B-cell lineages but never in CD34+/CD20- precursor populations or paired lymphoid/myeloid disease. Our data therefore are not in support of HSCs as a precursor reservoir in FL."

Real-time, high-resolution microscopy of invasive cancer cells in the tumor microenvironment context.
(PubMed, J Biomol Tech)
- "Using our unique intravital imaging approaches (Perrin et al, 2019 Canc Rep; Bayarmagnai et al, 2018 Meth Mol Biol.), we previously demonstrated that invadopodia in vivo are necessary for intravasation and consequent lung metastasis (Gligorijevic et al, Plos Bio 2014)...A close look at the regulators of G1 revealed that the cell cycle regulator p27kip1 localizes to the sites of invadopodia assembly and overexpression of p27kip1 causes faster turnover of invadopodia and increased ECM degradation. Taken together, these findings suggest that invadopodia assembly in the perivascular niche, is necessary for lung metastasis and function is controlled by the cell cycle."
