Immunomodulatory role of Parkinson's disease 7 in inflammatory bowel disease.
(PubMed, Sci Rep)
- "Comp23 treatment attenuated the ex vivo permeability of colonic sacs, the clinical symptoms, and mucosal expression of Tgfb1, Il1b, Il6 and Il10 of DSS-treated mice. Our study revealed the role of PARK7 in the regulation of IBD-related inflammation in vitro and in vivo, suggesting its importance as a future therapeutic target."

Targeting ebola virus VP40 protein through novel inhibitors: exploring the structural and dynamic perspectives on molecular landscapes.
(PubMed, J Mol Model)
- "We have selected five novel reported inhibitors against VP40 protein, namely Comp1, Comp2, Comp3, Comp4, and Comp5, and explored their binding against the same target...Also, the hydrogen bond network is robust in Comp1-VP40 complex, with four hydrogen bonds, whilst it is less in other inhibitors. The outcomes from this report may assist in the advancement of novel VP40 inhibitors with high selectivity and potency for EVD therapeutics."

Comp34 displays potent preclinical antitumor efficacy in triple-negative breast cancer via inhibition of NUDT3-AS4, a novel oncogenic long noncoding RNA.
(PubMed, Cell Death Dis)
- "In addition, Comp34 alone is effective in cells with secondary resistance to rapamycin, the best-known inhibitor of mTOR, and displays a greater in vivo antitumor efficacy and lower toxicity than rapamycin in TNBC xenografted models. In conclusion, NUDT3-AS4 may play a proproliferative role in TNBC and be considered a relevant therapeutic target, and Comp34 presents promising activity as a single agent to inhibit TNBC through regulation of NUDT3-AS4 and miR-99s."

[VIRTUAL] Splitting Ventilator With Flow Regulator For Different Lung Compliances: An In-vitro Study
(ASA 2020)
- "Pressure-controlled ventilation mode with inspiratory pressure of 12 cmH 2 O, ratio of 1:2, inspiratory pause of 20%, FiO 2 of 50% and no humidification was used in different settings of respiratory rate (RR 14, 18 and 22 imp), positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP 6 and 12 cmH 2 O) and COMPL of 30 (COMPL30) and 45 (COMPL45) mL/cmH 2 O. The equipment needed to split one ventilator for two patients are: two splitters, four viral/bacterial filters, two HMEF, four plastic corrugated breathing tubes (160 cm L and 22 cm ID, measured COMPL 1,9 mL/cmH 2 0), two one-way valves, two Y connectors and one AFL... Lungs that presented different COMPL that did not receive AFL presented greater difference of VT (167,5 mL). While this difference was reduced when limiters were added to the system it was dependent in the ventilator settings that were tested. In the PEEP settings of 6 cmH 2 O closer VT values between lungs were obtained in group AFL-4 in the RR of 14 and 18 ipm and in..."

A strong CD8 T cell-stimulating supramolecular hydrogel.
(PubMed, Nanoscale)
- "In this work, we combined two peptide-based molecules, tuftsin (TKPR) and Nap-GDFDFDY, to develop a novel self-assembling molecule Nap-GDFDFDYTKPR (Comp.3), which has strong CD8+ T cell stimulatory properties...In addition, it demonstrated an excellent anti-tumor efficacy in vivo by eliciting a strong CD8+ T immune response. Taken together, our observations revealed a powerful immune stimulating nanomaterial that is a promising compound for cancer immunotherapy."

PARK7 Diminishes Oxidative Stress-Induced Mucosal Damage in Celiac Disease.
(PubMed, Oxid Med Cell Longev)
- "In this study, we demonstrate that PARK7-binding Comp23 reduces the oxidative damage of duodenal epithelial cells, via increased expression of NRF2- and P53-regulated genes. Our results suggest that PARK7 plays a significant role in the maintenance of mucosal integrity in CD."

LC-MS/MS profiles and interrelationships between the enzyme inhibition activity, total phenolic content and antioxidant potential of Micromeria nervosa extracts.
(PubMed, Food Chem)
- "Total phenolic and flavonoid contents were calculated and individual compo3unds were detected using LC-ESI-MS/MS...The EtOAc and MeOH extracts presented higher inhibitory activity with respect to α-amylase and tyrosinase. Regardless of the solvent, the results suggest M. nervosa aerial extracts present a biological potential due to their antioxidant activity and enzymatic inhibition."

Synthetic carboline compounds targeting protein: Biophysical and biological perspective.
(PubMed, J Biomol Struct Dyn)
- "Furthermore, the compounds effectively inhibit DNA topoisomerase I activity and showed anti-inflammatory actions. In vivo studies regarding therapeutic protective action of Comp3, as a representative carboline analogue, against colon toxicant, 1, 2-Dimethylhydrazine Dihydrochloride (DMH), showed the efficacy of the compound against organ toxicity. The existing studies on biological evaluation showed that these synthetic compounds may have a major role as anticancer agents having myriad of proven therapeutic applications. Trifluoromethylated carboline compounds targeting DNA: Synthesis, binding and anti-proliferative effects on human cancer cell lines.
(PubMed, Bioorg Chem)
- "The smallest alkyl chain analog attached to gamma position, Comp3, showed maximum cytotoxicity with GI 6.2 µM, against HCT-116 causing apoptosis, followed by the guanidine alkyl chain compounds, but amino alkyl chain compounds to beta position showed poor cytotoxicity. These results may be of prospective use in a framework to design novel carboline derivatives as antitumor drugs for improved therapeutic applications in future."

Comparative transcriptome analysis of dioecious, unisexual floral development in Ribes diacanthum pall.
(PubMed, Gene)
- "...Several MADS-box genes such as comp53946_c0 (putative AGL11) might be directly correlated with the establishment of sexual dimorphism. The sex-specific transcripts and genes identified may regulate coordinated events during floral development and be involved in the molecular regulation of dioecious, unisexual floral development in R. diacanthum. The transcriptome from the male and the female inflorescences will provide a valuable reference for further functional research on the development of dioecious, unisexual flowers."
