A 5-year longitudinal structural equation model of social isolation and probable major depression among participants with spinal cord injury.
(PubMed, Rehabil Psychol)
- "Social isolation was associated with both current and future depression symptoms. People with more years post-SCI were less likely to have PMD."

Genetic characterization of canine astrovirus in non-diarrhea dogs and diarrhea dogs in Vietnam and Thailand reveals the presence of a unique lineage.
(PubMed, Front Vet Sci)
- "Furthermore, analysis of complete coding sequences indicated that the OR220030_G21/Thailand/2021 strain formed a unique lineage, whereas no recombination event was found in this study, suggesting that this strain might be an original lineage. In summary, this is the first study to report the presence of CaAstV in dogs with and without diarrhea in Vietnam and Thailand, and it was most often found in puppies with diarrhea. Our results highlight the importance of the CaAstV in dog populations and the need for continued surveillance of these emerging pathogens."

Association of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Diagnosis With Adolescent Quality of Life.
(PubMed, JAMA Netw Open)
- "Eligible children were born in 1999 to 2000 or 2003 to 2004 and did not have a previous ADHD diagnosis...ADHD diagnosis was associated with worse scores in some outcomes, including significantly increased risk of self-harm. A large, randomized clinical trial with long-term follow-up is needed."

Mental health, pain, and sleep factors associated with subjective cognitive difficulties in individuals with spinal cord injury.
(PubMed, Rehabil Psychol)
- "Participants (n = 553) were identified from a specialty hospital in the southeastern United States and two midwestern university hospitals and were initially enrolled in the study in 1973-1974, 1984-1985, 1993-1994, or 2003-2004...Depressive, anxiety, and pain symptoms; sleep disturbance; and injury level remained significant predictors of variance in subjective cognitive symptoms when considering all variables simultaneously. Improving mental health symptoms, pain experiences, and sleep difficulties may be promising to improve subjective cognitive symptoms in individuals with SCI."

Educational and Employment Outcomes among Young Australians with a History of Depressive Symptoms: A Prospective Cohort Study.
(PubMed, Int J Environ Res Public Health)
- "Multiple logistic regression analyses were used to model the association of depressive symptoms reported in 2002 (wave one) and/or 2003 (wave two) and self-reported completion of compulsory secondary schooling, employment status, and exposure to a number of psychosocial job stressors roughly a decade later (i.e., at wave three in 2014)...Amongst those employed at wave three (n = 2091; 72.5%), adolescent depressive symptoms were associated only with workplace incivility. Psychosocial job stressor exposures should be considered in the design and selection of jobs for young workers with a history of depressive symptoms in order to increase employment participation and sustainability for young people experiencing symptoms of depression."

Worldwide Burden of, Risk Factors for, and Trends in Pancreatic Cancer.
(PubMed, Gastroenterology)
- "In an analysis of data from 48 countries, we found increasing incidence and mortality trends in pancreatic cancer, especially among women and populations 50 years or older, but also among younger individuals. More preventive efforts are recommended for these populations."

Novel prodrugs of decitabine with greater metabolic stability and less toxicity.
(PubMed, Clin Epigenetics)
- "We developed two novel prodrugs of DAC that exhibited greater stability, comparable DNA demethylation activity, and less toxicity. These compounds are expected to overcome the difficulty in achieving stable pharmacokinetics in patients, leading to maximum DNA demethylation activity with minimum adverse effects."
