Development of a precise saliva-based epigenetic clock using a six-CpG-marker panel.

- "By using recursive feature elimination (RFE) optimized to reduce mean absolute error (MAE), we identified an optimal set of six core CpG sites (cg09809672, cg10501210, cg26290632, cg04875128, cg06639320, and cg07553761) that showed strong associations with age...In summary, we developed a highly accurate epigenetic age prediction panel for saliva that includes only six CpG sites. The resulting rLasso and SVR models provide an excellent balance of high predictive accuracy and practical applicability, making them valuable tools for forensic age prediction and aging-related research."

- "A total of seven age-related CpG sites, KLF14 (cg14361627), CCDC102B (cg19283806), TRIM59 (cg07553761), ASPA (cg02228185), C1ORF132 (cg10501210), FHL2 (cg06639320), and ELOVL2 (cg16867657), were selected and analyzed in blood samples of 181 individuals categorized into different age groups (1 to 76 years)...These findings further highlight the need to study DNA methylation changes in polluted settings in order to improve age prediction systems and bridge the gap between chronological and biological age. Additional optimization using population samples and various forensic materials such as bloodstains, saliva, and body fluids is required to improve the performance and applicability of the model in real-life forensic situations."

- "In this study, we screened three age-related methylation sites (cg05940966, cg10501210, and cg10528482) from blood, saliva, and semen samples by analysis of public databases...From a practical standpoint, this technology enables rapid age estimation without requiring prior identification of fluid type, thereby conserving valuable biological samples at crime scenes. This breakthrough will significantly enhance the efficiency of criminal investigations, strengthen the reliability of biological evidence interpretation in complex scenarios, and provide scientific support for judicial processes."

Epigenome-wide association study of BMI and waist-to-hip ratio and their associations with dietary patterns in Korean adults.

- "The most significant associations were at cg10323433 and cg10501210 in serotonin receptor 2 A (HTR2A) for abdominal obesity (Δβ = -0.023) and BMI-defined obesity (Δβ = -0.021), respectively...Sites with hypomethylation in obesity consistently demonstrated positive correlations with fat intake but negative correlations with carbohydrates. The distinct associations between methylation patterns and dietary components suggest that different foods may influence epigenetic modifications that are specific to overall adiposity or fat distribution, providing potential targets for nutritional interventions to modify obesity-related epigenetic signatures."
