A case of misophonia benefited from sertraline treatment (ECNP 2024) - "Six years ago, risperidone 1 mg once a day and Hyoscine N Butylbromur + Medazepam Hcl twice a day were prescribed with the diagnoses of irritability and behavioral disorder. Although the etiopathogenesis of misophonia has yet to be fully elucidated, there is no precise treatment. Preliminary evidence suggests efficacy for specific cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) protocols, with one randomized control trial demonstrating a significant reduction in misophonia severity. While exposure-based CBT has shown some benefit, its acceptance is limited, and alternative approaches such as inhibitory learning models and third-wave behavioral therapies like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy may hold promise."

From diagnosis to recovery: a rare case of opsoclonus-myoclonus syndrome in an adult successfully treated with IVIg (ECNP 2024) - "Previously, he had received symptomatic treatment that also included 10 mg of hyoscine-N-butylbromide, 10 mg of medazepam, and 10 mg of escitalopram for recently occurred anxiety and sleep issues, without improvement. Conclusion :This case exemplifies the neuroimmunological underpinnings of OMS, highlighting the potential for misdiagnosis and the need for comprehensive evaluation and targeted immunomodulatory treatment. It significantly enriches the ongoing discourse on the shared neuroimmunological pathways among OMS and other autoimmune disorders, emphasizing the importance of this interconnection in advancing our understanding and management of these complex conditions."

3D-printed extraction devices fabricated from silica particles suspended in acrylate resin. (PubMed, J Chromatogr A) - "This evaluation confirmed good linearity in the concentration range of 50-1000 ng/mL, with R values being 0.9932 and 0.9952 for medazepam and diazepam, respectively. Future optimisation opportunities include refining sorbent size, shape, and geometry to achieve lower limits of quantification. As a result of these findings, 3D-printed extraction devices can serve as a viable alternative to commercially available SPE or solid-phase microextraction (SPME) protocols for studying new sample preparation approaches."

Dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) for determination of tricyclic antidepressants in whole blood and plasma samples and analysis by liquid chromatography with diode array detector (LC-DAD). (PubMed, Toxicol Mech Methods) - "The proposed DLLME employed 490 µL of biological sample (whole blood or plasma), which were added 15 mg of NaCl, 10 µL of medazepam as internal standard (10 µg/mL) and 100 µL of 2 M NaOH...Also, it was applied in real cases involving suspected exposure to TCAs. So, the developed DLLME for the determination of TCAs in whole blood and plasma samples proved to be a simple, reliable, robust and reproducible method that can be used in toxicology and clinical laboratories."

(PubMed, ChemSusChem) - "Interestingly, solvent was found to be crucial to the reaction, so that by using acetic acid as the best solvent, an efficient and practical method can be achieved, requiring no catalysts or additives at all. This method tolerates a wide range of 2-aminobenzylic amines and α- hydroxyl ketones, can be scaled up to multigram synthesis and directly applied in one-step synthesis of the pharmaceutically-active N- desmethylmedazepam derivatives, revealing the potential of this new method in the synthesis of 5 H -1,4-benzodiazepine skeleton-based pharmaceuticals and chemicals."

Examination of the effect of air atmosphere on heterogeneous reactions under surface ionization of psychotropic drug molecules. (PubMed, Eur J Mass Spectrom (Chichester)) - "The results of mass spectrometric studies of surface ionization of molecules of psychotropic drugs such as chlorpromazine, amitriptyline and medazepam in an air atmosphere have been presented. They are probably formed by adhesion of analyte molecules to the primary ions [М-R], [М-Н] and [М+Н]. A comparative analysis has been also performed with the data obtained by chromato-mass spectrometry with electron ionization, as well as with the surface ionization data for these preparations obtained under high vacuum."
