Off-label use of 0.4 % sodium hyaluronate teardrops: a safe and effective solution for submucosal injection in gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection.
(PubMed, Endosc Int Open)
- "During follow-up (mean: 17 months; SD: ± 14.5 months), two patients developed metachronous lesions (2.5 %). Conclusions Off-label use of teardrops with 0.4 % sodium hyaluronate for submucosal injection was demonstrated to be safe and able to provide an effective submucosal cushion that facilitates SM dissection in gastric ESD procedures."

Endoscopic soft palate augmentation using injectable materials in dogs to ameliorate velopharyngeal insufficiency.
(PubMed, PLoS One)
- "We investigated the optimal materials for use in ESPA, such as purified sodium hyaluronate, atelocollagen, or autogenic fat tissue. We found that all of them reduced nasal air leakage and only autogenic fat tissue showed significant histologic differences in dogs at 6 months. This technique may also be useful for the treatment of patients with VPI."

Sodium Alginate as a Potential Therapeutic Filler: An In Vivo Study in Rats.
(PubMed, Mar Drugs)
- "Nine SA types with different M/G ratios and viscosities were tested and compared with a commercially available sodium hyaluronate (SH) filler...By contrast, SH showed capsule formation but with minimal granulomatous reactions. The beneficial and adverse effects of SA as a filler differed according to the viscosity or M/G ratio, suggesting a better long-term volumizing effect than SH with relatively low immunogenicity."

An injectable, self-healing and MMP-inhibiting hyaluronic acid gel via iron coordination.
(PubMed, Int J Biol Macromol)
- "Noteworthy, 24-hour incubation of a clinical synovial fluid sample collected from a late-stage OA patient with the reported hydrogel was still shown to downregulate synovial fluid MMP activity (100.0 ± 17.6% ➔ 81.0 ± 7.5%), with at least comparable extent to the case of the OSTENIL® PLUS-treated SF group (100.0 ± 17.6% ➔ 92.3 ± 27.3%). These results therefore open up new possibilities in the use of HA as both mechanically-competent hydrogel as well as a mediator of MMP regulation for OA therapy."

Single transient intraocular pressure elevations cause prolonged retinal ganglion cell dysfunction and retinal capillary abnormalities in mice.
(PubMed, Exp Eye Res)
- "Transient IOP elevation was induced in 12-week old wild type C57BL6J mice by injecting sodium hyaluronate into the anterior chamber...RGC counts, retinal arteriole diameter, and deep capillary plexus branching were unaffected. These previously unappreciated findings suggest that transient IOP elevation may cause unrecognized and potentially long-term pathology to RGCs and associated neurovascular units which should be accounted for in clinical practice."

[VIRTUAL] THE FEASIBILITY OF A FULLY SYNTHETIC AND SELF-ASSEMBLED PEPTIDE SOLUTION AS SUBMUCOSAL INJECTION MATERIAL: A PRELIMINARY STUDY
(UEGW 2020)
- "To compere the lesion-lifting properties, 1ml of 0.3% FSSP solution, Eleview®, Sodium Hyaluronate solution (SHA) and normal saline (NS) were injected using a 23G injection needle into the submucosal layer of the stomach and colon in five live dogs under the general anesthesia... FSSP solution can create high and long-lasting submucosal cushion, which suggested that FSSP solution could be a safe and suitable material for endoscopic resection especially in the colorectum."
