Suppressing vasculogenic mimicry in claudin-low breast cancer by targeting Neuropilin-1
(LCC 2026)
- "In MDA-MB-231 and SUM159 claudin-low cell lines, Matrigel-based tube formation assays and RT-qPCR were performed following NRP1 knockout (CRISPR-Cas9) and inhibition (monoclonal antibody Vesencumab)...Additionally, our preliminary data from claudin-low xenografts indicate that NRP1 inhibitor therapy in mice results in a decrease in p42/44 MAPK-positive VM structures, as well as an increase in survival time and a reduction in tumour growth. These data indicate that the inhibition of VM by targeting NRP1 may be beneficial in the prevention of aggressive claudin-low tumour growth and metastasis."

Testing the efficacy of Neuropilin-1 inhibition in pre-clinical models of claudin-low breast cancer
(LCC 2026)
- "Also, NRP1 KD models were tested in combination with chemotherapy drugs such as doxorubicin, docetaxel, and paclitaxel. In 2D cultures the IC₅₀ of the three chemotherapy drugs were unaffected by either Vesencumab or CRISPR knockdown; only siRNA sequence 5 produced an increase in chemosensitivity. In the next step, we will explore EMT plasticity in NRP1-KD RNA-seq data to uncover pathways potentially linking anti-invasive phenotypes to persistent chemoresistance observed in-vitro."

NephroAIX: Large Language Model (LLM)-Guided Knowledge Graph for Explainable Target Discovery in Human Kidney Diseases Using Single-Cell Data
(KIDNEY WEEK 2025)
- "LUCITANIB, a multi-kinase inhibitor targeting growth factor receptors VEGFRs and FGFRs, and VESENCUMAB, a monoclonal antibody inhibiting VEGFR-2 were identified as top repurposing candidates to target FGFR-NPR1 axis in AKI. For CKD, we found ATN-161, a peptide antagonist of integrin α5β1, a receptor involved in cell-matrix adhesion, inflammation, and fibrosis, and VOLOCIXIMAB, a chimeric monoclonal antibody that targets integrin α5β1 as two drugs associated with immune-podocyte interactions...Integrating AI with multi-modal single-cell omics holds immense potential to identify novel targets, elucidate disease pathways, and accelerate drug discovery. This synergy paves the way for precision nephrology, transforming how kidney diseases are understood and treated."

Mutation of a magnesium chelatase BrCHLD affects the chlorophyll content and magnesium chelatase activity in Chinese cabbage.
(PubMed, Plant Physiol Biochem)
- "However, the Mg-protoporphyrin IX content and MgCh activity were significantly reduced in M1685. Our study demonstrated that BrCHLD was required for the Chl biosynthesis, laying a theoretical foundation for revealing Chl synthesis in Chinese cabbage."

A Comprehensive Analysis of NRP1 in Malignancies Provide Therapeutic Implication for Treating Cancer Patients Infected with SARS-CoV-2.
(PubMed, Biochem Genet)
- "Overall, NRP1 appears to play a critical role in regulating immunological properties and metabolism in many tumor types. Specific inhibitors of the NRP1 antigen (pegaptanib, EG00229, or MNRP1685A) combined with other anti-SARS-CoV-2 strategies may aid in treating patients with lung and genitourinary cancers following SARS-CoV-2 infection."

Neuropilin-1 is over-expressed in claudin-low breast cancer and promotes tumor progression through acquisition of stem cell characteristics and RAS/MAPK pathway activation.
(PubMed, Breast Cancer Res)
- "These data implicate NRP1 in the aggressive phenotype of claudin-low breast cancer and offer a novel targeted therapeutic approach to this poor prognosis subtype."
