Measles vaccine-induced sero-protection among children with sickle cell anemia
(ASH 2025)
- P=N/A, P3 | "Among 35 children with samples available aftertheir first measles vaccine (MV1), the median age at MV1 was 1.1 (IQR 1.0-1.3) years, and 5 of 18 (28%)with available labs had elevated pit counts within one year of vaccination. In this retrospective cohort, sero-protection from measles vaccinations in children with SCAwas robust and comparable to rates observed in the general population. Notably, hydroxyurea treatmentdid not impair measles antibody responses. Older age at vaccination was associated with lower rates ofsero-protection, an important finding for families considering delayed vaccine schedules."

What happens when the CDC stops posting about measles on social media? An exploratory analysis of social media coverage during the 2025 measles outbreak.
(PubMed, Vaccine)
- "Major news media outlets averaged 40.4 social media posts in the same period of 2025, with post frequency closely mirroring trends in measles cases. This shift in messaging may impact the public's situational awareness and further erode vaccine confidence."

- "The study also identified high white blood cell count, normal platelet count, low neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio, low albumin, and low lactate dehydrogenase levels as favorable prognostic indicators in this patient population. These results contribute to the growing body of literature aimed at optimizing prognostic assessment in metastatic bladder cancer."

Spatially Informed Wastewater Differentiation among Locations during an Ongoing Measles Outbreak in Texas, USA.
(PubMed, ACS Environ Au)
- "The RT-qPCR platform demonstrated a higher detection rate than RT-dPCR for the vaccine strain quantified in wastewater samples, with equivalent detections for the wild-type strain in both platforms, and notable differences in the gene copies quantified in wastewater based on the platform. Our study identifies that regardless of PCR methodology employed, WBS is a particularly valuable approach for the spatially informed differentiation of measles during rapid response to an active outbreak."

Improving uptake of pediatric vaccines through religious conferences and mobile vaccine clinics in Aceh, Indonesia (TABRIE): study protocol for a stepped wedge cluster randomized controlled trial.
(PubMed, Trials)
- P=N/A | "This study will conduct a stepped wedge cluster randomized trial to separately estimate the effects of religious conferences and mobile vaccine clinics on pediatric vaccination rates and parental attitudes towards vaccination. It will offer a novel paradigm in vaccination delivery by inserting vaccination from clinics into social spaces that provide alternative, community-centered policy solutions to vaccine hesitancy."

The History of Measles and Vaccine Development.
(PubMed, Acta Paediatr)
- "Before the vaccine era, measles caused 2-3 million deaths a year, with remote populations facing chaotic consequences from epidemics...It warrants two doses, especially when contacts with natural measles are minimal or lacking. The World Health Organization is running a measles and rubella elimination program, but current vaccination levels will make that difficult."

Insights from a measles outbreak root cause analysis in Ethiopia - 2024.
(PubMed, Pan Afr Med J)
- "Ethiopia has been implementing measles elimination strategies since 2003, including periodic supplemental immunisation activities every 2-3 years, and the introduction of a second dose measles vaccine in 2018...It is important that these findings are used to develop tailored efforts to strengthen routine immunisation services within the service catchment areas. Root cause analysis should be implemented as part of every outbreak investigation and response efforts."

Trends of routine childhood vaccination status in Afghanistan over the last two decades (1999-2023).
(PubMed, Trop Med Health)
- "Afghanistan's immunization coverage increased substantially until 2006, grew more slowly from 2007 to 2018, and declined after 2019. These patterns highlight the vulnerability of routine immunization programs to contextual challenges and suggest that sustaining coverage will require continued strengthening of routine services, monitoring subnational disparities, and implementing conflict-sensitive strategies."

Measles containing vaccine hesitancy and readiness in the post-COVID-19 era: A 7C model commentary.
(PubMed, Glob Health Med)
