CD09 Complexities of contact dermatitis: lessons from a case of concomitant budesonide and propylene glycol sensitivity.
(PubMed, Br J Dermatol)
- "Positive reactions on day 4 included propylene glycol 20%, colophony 20%, jasmine absolute Egyptian, tixocortol-21-pivalate 1% in petrolatum, budesonide 0.01% in petrolatum and mometasone furoate ointment...Safe alternatives were recommended, while propylene glycol-containing products such as Dermovate, Metosyn and Synalar were to be avoided...Contact Dermatitis 2019; 81: 280-7). Vigilant allergen avoidance, individualized treatment plans and education are paramount for optimal management to prevent exposure to such allergens in future treatments."

Shedding Light on Effective Management of Acne Keloidalis Nuchae: The Utility of Excimer Pulsed Light Therapy
(EADV 2025)
- "Previous treatments included three intralesional triamcinolone injections at two-month intervals (10–40 mg/mL), a four-month course of topical fluocinolone acetonide gel, and oral lymecycline (408 mg daily), all of which had minimal impact. To our knowledge, this is the first reported use of EPL for AKN. While other UV wavelengths have demonstrated efficacy in previous studies, evidence supporting the use of UVB for this condition remains limited. This case highlights EPL as a safe and effective treatment for AKN."

(PubMed, Arch Soc Esp Oftalmol (Engl Ed))
- "The fluocinolone acetonide implant (FAI), in our series of cases, turned out to be an effective and safe therapy for non-infectious uveitic macular edema, providing sustained and long-lasting effects, in some cases up to 60 months post-implantation. Sub-Tenon triamcinolone proves to be a valuable adjunctive therapy."

(PubMed, Cureus)
- "The lesions were initially treated with topical fluocinolone acetonide prescribed by an otolaryngologist, without clinical improvement...The patient was treated with ciprofloxacin, selected based on antibiotic sensitivity, along with mometasone furoate 0.1% cream to address both infectious and inflammatory components. On follow-up, the lesions showed improvement; however, the patient was later lost to follow-up. This case highlights the need to consider IED in children with refractory eczematous eruptions."

Handshake technique for removal of fluocinolone acetonide implant from the vitreous cavity.
(PubMed, BMJ Case Rep)
- "Fluocinolone implant could be safely removed through 25 G cannula in toto, and removal resulted in good control of intraocular pressure at 3-month and 9-month follow-up. This innovative bimanual handshake technique to transfer and realign the implant coaxially is a quicker and safer way to remove FAc implant, which avoids removing the cannula and thereby retains all advantages of 25G cannula, including better sclerotomy closure."

Predictive value of short-term steroid intraocular pressure elevation testing for long-term steroid intraocular pressure elevation in diabetic macular edema treatment.
(PubMed, Int Ophthalmol)
- "It is crucial to evaluate the necessity of a prior short-acting steroid challenge, which carries the risk of multiple disease relapses, given the potential for a prolonged and stable steroid to provide superior control. The predictive value of the test with TA was not evident in our sample, suggesting some usefulness in delaying treatment with the FAc implant."

REDD1/DDIT4 knockout prevents skin atrophy in aged mice
(SID 2025)
- "We observed that chronic fluocinolone acetonide (FA) treatment in 20-month-old REDD1 KO mice induced epidermal hyperplasia, in contrast to significant epidermal thinning in WT isogenic controls...Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) identified a significant number of histone genes, including targets of Polycomb Repressive Complex 2 (PRC2) methylation, only in aged REDD1 KO mice. These findings suggest that the absence of REDD1 gene may reverse the phenotypic skin changes associated with GC-induced atrophy in aged mice, possibly through modulation of epigenetic pathways altered during intrinsic aging."

Nontargeted Analysis Reveals Organofluorine Pharmaceutical Compounds Responsible for Formation of Toxic Disinfection Byproducts in a Drinking Water Treatment Plant in China.
(PubMed, Environ Sci Technol)
- "These findings were validated using chemical standards, including fluoroquinolone antibiotics (e.g., enrofloxacin and difloxacin) and fluorosteroids (e.g., fluocinolone acetonide and triamcinolone)...Fluorosteroids showed smaller toxicity increases (1.3-1.5 times), but their conversion rates in real water were 1.7-2.3 times higher than in laboratory conditions. This study highlights the role of organofluorine precursors in DBP formation and provides an innovative method to identify unknown DBPs, elucidate their formation pathways, and trace their sources, advancing water treatment safety."
