Effects of excessive topical glucocorticoids on ovarian aging.
(PubMed, Cutan Ocul Toxicol)
- "In female C57BL/6 mice (n = 6 per group), we established an excessive topical GC exposure model using an intentionally supratherapeutic fluocinolone acetonide regimen, which caused marked epidermal/dermal atrophy and impaired skin barrier function...However, systemic glucocorticoid exposure was not measured, and the study was not powered to exclude small effects on ovarian function. Therefore, these findings do not establish ovarian safety, and larger and longer-duration studies are required."

Green and lean: A validated RP-HPLC-VWD method for simultaneous determination of hydroquinone, methylparaben, fluocinolone acetonide, and propylparaben.
(PubMed, J Chromatogr B Analyt Technol Biomed Life Sci)
- "The RP-HPLC-VWD method for HYQ/MP/FLN/PP achieves an excellent balance between superior analytical performance and practicality, while also revealing a good environmentally sound approach. The accompanying tools complement each other perfectly, with high performance of RAPI (95.0%)/ BAGI (77.5%) highlighting the strengths and acceptable satisfaction level of EPPI (EI = 76.7% and PPI = 55.0%) and Multi-color Assessment platform (MA = 61.1%) and Red-Green-Blue (72.5%) as a whiteness evaluation tool."

Delayed Candida keratitis associated with Descemet's stripping endothelial keratoplasty.
(PubMed, Am J Ophthalmol Case Rep)
- "We describe a 20-year-old woman with a history of congenital glaucoma and secondary corneal edema who exhibited delayed worsening of fungal keratitis requiring treatment 3 years after a DSEK and concurrent fluocinolone acetonide intravitreal implantation...This report describes a case of late-developing fungal keratitis 3 years after DSEK that occurred in the graft itself, in the plane between the posterior stroma and Descemet's membrane, rather than between the donor and host cornea. This highlights the importance of maintaining a high index of suspicion for fungal keratitis in patients with persistent or worsening opacities in endothelial keratoplasty grafts."

Efficacy and safety of different intraocular therapies for non-infectious uveitis: A network meta-analysis.
(PubMed, Surv Ophthalmol)
- "Our meta-analysis included 9 randomized controlled trials and 1 retrospective case series, investigating the efficacy and safety profiles of intravitreal fluocinolone acetonide implant (FAi), intravitreal dexamethasone implant, intravitreal or suprachoroidal triamcinolone acetonide (SCTA), intravitreal methotrexate, intravitreal ranibizumab, and standard of care (SOC) for NIU...With regards to side effects, 0.59mg FAi was associated with a higher risk of 2-year and 3-year intraocular pressure elevation ≥10 mmHg when compared to SOC. Understanding the advantages and limitations of intraocular therapies is essential for initiating personalized treatment strategies in NIU."

Topical Ciclosporin Eye Drops for Recalcitrant Pyoderma Gangrenosum: Report of Two Adult Cases
(BAD 2026)
- "Treatment options include topical corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors, or systemic therapies including corticosteroids, ciclosporin and mycophenolate mofetil...Treatment with clobetasone ointment and oral prednisolone showed minimal improvement...She was treated with beclometasone spray, fluocinolone acetonide gel and triamcinolone injection, with little response...Her treatment continued for another month before being tapered. We remind colleagues of this effective topical treatment, which may reduce the need for systemic agents for the treatment of PG."

Evaluation of fractional ablative CO2 laser and triple combination cream in the treatment of melasma– a randomized controlled study
(BAD 2026)
- "Triple combination cream (TCC), which includes hydroquinone (4%), tretinoin (0.05%) and fluocinolone acetonide (0.01%), is considered first-line therapy for melasma. The study has shown that fractional CO2 laser offers modest additional benefit and is safe in the treatment of melasma. Hence, further studies are required."

Sequential dexamethasone and fluocinolone acetonide intravitreal implants to treat macular edema in non-infectious uveitis.
(PubMed, J Fr Ophtalmol)
- "Sequential administration of dexamethasone and fluocinolone acetonide intravitreal implants reduces the rate of significant macular edema recurrences in non-infectious uveitis. There is a significant quantitative improvement in macular edema, and further studies may demonstrate a noticeable benefit in visual acuity and quality of life with fewer retreatments."

Correlation Between Improvements in Melasma Quality of Life (MELASQoL-INA) and Modified Melasma Area and Severity Index (mMASI) Following Triple Combination Therapy.
(PubMed, Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol)
- "This study aimed to determine whether clinical improvement after triple combination cream (fluocinolone acetonide 0.01%, hydroquinone 4%, and tretinoin 0.05%) correlated with improved QoL. Clinical improvement in melasma severity following triple combination therapy is modestly associated with improved QoL. However, QoL impairment does not always correspond linearly with disease severity, highlighting the importance of integrating subjective QoL outcomes alongside clinical evaluations in the management of melasma."
