Elucidating the molecular pathways regulated by Nox4 in a subtype of cancer-associated fibroblasts in prostate cancer

- "Material and Methods Primary prostate CAFs and patient-matched normal prostate fibroblasts were treated with GKT831; a small molecule Nox4/Nox1 inhibitor, and analyzed using an integrative bioinformatics approach. Conclusion Our data suggests that Nox4-expressing CAFs in prostate cancer are characterized by a contractile, myofibroblastic phenotype. Specifically, we found that Nox4 regulates a FAK-Src-YAP signaling axis which has been shown to drive adhesion and mechano-transduction pathways and the development of a tumor-promoting microenvironment."
