Case review: canalicular laceration reconstruction with silicone self-retaining stent
(SOE 2025)
- "In both cases, treatment included eyelid repair and canalicular reconstruction with a Masterka stent, followed by postoperative care with dexamethasone eyedrops, tobramycin ointment, and oral antibiotics. We reported successful healing and preservation of eyelid function in both cases. This highlights the efficacy of using Masterka stents for canalicular reconstruction, demonstrating promising clinical outcomes beyond its primary indication for nasolacrimal duct obstruction."

Rose Bengal Photodynamic Antimicrobial Therapy as an Adjunct Treatment for Pseudomonas aeruginosa Infectious Necrotizing Scleritis.
(PubMed, Photodiagnosis Photodyn Ther)
- "All patients received a standardized regimen of oral fluoroquinolone, topical tobramycin, and ciprofloxacin/moxifloxacin. None of the patients required enucleation. Conclusion RB-PDAT is a feasible option to halt the progression of infectious necrotizing scleritis caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, especially in cases of impending perforation."

A Sneaky Culprit: Secondary Infectious Keratitis Due to Brevundimonas diminuta.
(PubMed, Eye Contact Lens)
- "To our knowledge, this is the second reported culture-positive case of secondary infectious keratitis with B. diminuta, highlighting its rarity and potential for delayed identification. The atypical response to initial therapy underscores the importance of repeat cultures and corneal biopsy in persistent cases. This case contributes to the growing understanding of rare ocular pathogens, advocating for a vigilant clinical approach."

Cultivated corneal stromal keratocyte injection improves corneal clarity in lumican knockout mouse
(ARVO 2024)
- "Topical tobramycin and dexamethasone were given 4 times/day for 7 days postoperatively. Injection of cultivated CSKs improved the corneal clarity in the developed haze of Lum-KO mice. The improvement was likely due to the partial recovery of the proteoglycans, which also resulted in the restoration of the corneal thickness in the mice. Antibiotic Use in Adult Spine Deformity Surgery: Results From the AO Spine Surveillance of the Management of Patients With Adult Spine Deformity.
(PubMed, Global Spine J)
- "The present survey identifies a trend towards systemic and topical antibiotic prophylaxis primarily targeted at gram positive pathogens. The use of topical tobramycin, proposedly effective against gram negative infections, remains uncommon. There is a lack of consensus in the selection of perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis, thus a prospective study of the rates of infection with each strategy would be useful to inform guidelines."
