Temporal dissection of hepatitis C virus and orthoflavivirus infections by continuous luminescence monitoring.
(PubMed, J Virol)
- "Continuous monitoring also distinguished phase-specific antiviral activities, revealing distinct kinetic inhibition profiles for daclatasvir, acetylsalicylic acid, and interferon-α...Together, our study establishes continuous temporal monitoring as a general strategy for resolving dynamic virus-host interactions and for uncovering molecular events that remain obscured by conventional endpoint analyses.IMPORTANCEViral infection is a dynamic process in which entry, genome amplification, host-factor requirements, antiviral effects, and cellular responses occur on different timescales...We further showed that ATF6-mediated ER stress activation emerged later than early HCV infection and viral RNA amplification. Thus, continuous temporal monitoring provides a general strategy for resolving dynamic virus-host interactions by defining the temporal relationships among viral processes, pharmacological effects, and host responses that remain obscured by conventional endpoint analyses."

Chicken DDX60 potentiates dsRNA analog-induced IFN-β signaling through synergistic interaction with MDA5.
(PubMed, mBio)
- "Further studies using infectious RNA virus models are needed to determine whether chDDX60 contributes to antiviral defense against dsRNA and/or ssRNA viruses.IMPORTANCEViral RNA sensing is essential for host defense, but chickens naturally lack retinoic acid-inducible gene I (RIG-I), a major RNA sensor in mammals...These findings help explain how chicken cells regulate RNA-triggered innate immune signaling despite the absence of RIG-I and provide insight into avian-specific antiviral immune regulation. Because this study did not use infectious RNA viruses, future studies using dsRNA and ssRNA virus models will be needed to define the antiviral function and virus-type specificity of chDDX60."
