Identification of fungal diseases in strawberry by analysis of hyperspectral images using machine learning methods.
(PubMed, Vavilovskii Zhurnal Genet Selektsii)
- "The reflection spectrum of leaves was acquired with a Photonfocus MV1-D2048x1088-HS05-96-G2-10 hyperspectral camera under laboratory conditions using the line scanning method...When using vegetation indices and optimal wavelengths, the overall classification accuracy of all methods decreased slightly compared to the classification on the full range spectral data. The results of the study confirm the potential of using hyperspectral imaging methods in combination with machine learning for differentiating fungal diseases of strawberries."

Combining RAS(ON) G12C-selective and RAS(ON) multi-selective inhibitors overcomes sotorasib resistance driven byKRASG12C amplification or NRASG13R mutation
(AACR 2025)
- "Amplification of the KRASG12C mutant allele and acquisition of NRAS mutations have been reported as resistance mechanisms in tumors progressing on sotorasib and adagrasib...We generated five sotorasib-resistant cell lines from relapsed tumors of sotorasib-treated H358 xenografts (MR1-MR5) and two vehicle-treated tumors (MV1 and MV2). We created an additional isogenic cell line model, H358-MX1, by treating H358 cells with sotorasib and a SHP2 inhibitor, RMC-4550...In H358-MX1 mouse xenografts, RMC-7977 + RMC-4998 significantly inhibited tumor growth compared to single-agent treatments or other combination regimens. These preclinical data suggest that combination of RAS(ON) mutant-selective and RAS(ON) multi-selective inhibitors overcome resistance to KRASG12C (OFF) inhibitors driven by KRASG12C amplification and secondary NRASG13R mutation in KRASG12C mutated lung cancer models."

Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease: How Rare is Rare?
(AAN 2025)
- "Seven patients underwent autopsy and were confirmed as sporadic CJD and subtypes included MM1, MV2, VV2 and MV1-2...Our 45-month retrospective study found 14 CJD cases in Corewell Health, one of the large health systems in Michigan, which challenges the prevailing understanding that CJD is a rare disease. We also found higher incidence of CJD in 2022 and 2023 of unclear etiology. Further studies will be needed to investigate cases with negative RT-QuIC, high T-tau value and positive 14-3-3, to understand the true CJD incidence."

Pathological spectrum of sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
(PubMed, Pathology)
- "Six major clinicopathological subtypes of sCJD are internationally recognised, largely correlating with the combination of the two distinct types of the protease-resistant prion protein (PrPres type 1 or 2) and the methionine (M)/valine (V) polymorphism at codon 129 of the prion protein gene (PRNP): MM1/MV1, MM2-cortical, MM2-thalamic, MV2, VV1 and VV2...In this review, we will provide an up-to-date overview of the current classification of sCJD based on the prominent neuropathological features. In addition, with levels of infectivity at their highest in the brain, we will also discuss the additional precautions that are recommended when handling and examining postmortem tissues from patients with suspected prion disease."

Heating Efficiency of Different Magnetotactic Bacterial Species: Influence of Magnetosome Morphology and Chain Arrangement.
(PubMed, ACS Appl Mater Interfaces)
- "Here, we study three different bacterial species, Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense (MSR-1), Magnetospirillum magneticum (AMB-1), and Magnetovibrio blakemorei (MV-1), which synthesize magnetite nanoparticles with different morphologies and chain arrangements...As the Keff value increases, the saturated SAR values are higher; however, the threshold magnetic field required to observe a SAR response simultaneously increases. This factor is crucial to choose a bacterial species as the optimal hyperthermia agent."

Strain-Mediated Second Harmonic Generation Enhancement of Bimetallic Metal-Organic Frameworks.
(PubMed, J Phys Chem Lett)
- "The determined second-order nonlinear susceptibility of MOF3 (∼19.86 p mV-1) is one order of magnitude larger than that of pristine Zn-MOF (1.65 p mV-1) and Cu-MOF (3.88 p mV-1) and much higher than the commonly used NLO crystals...The anisotropy ratio of MOF4 (∼118.8) is much higher than that of the most excellent 2D material to date, to our best knowledge. A first-order perturbation of second-order polarization based on point group description was introduced to explore the regulation mechanism of the NLO response under the strain field of MOFs."

- "As a prototype, the activated Ni-HHTP (HA-Ni-HHTP) demonstrates outstanding OER performance, with an overpotential as low as 140 mV at 20 mA cm-2 and a small Tafel slope of 78.7 mV-1, surpassing commercial RuO2 and rivaling state-of-the-art MOFs-based electrocatalysts...Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy analysis using the transmission line model confirms that cathodic activation accelerates charge transport, enhancing the OER process. Furthermore, the cathodic activation strategy holds promise for improving the water oxidation performance of other MOFs such as Fe-HHTP, Co-HHTP, and Cu-HHTP."

Large-scale validation of skin prion seeding activity as a biomarker for diagnosis of prion diseases.
(PubMed, Acta Neuropathol)
- "The sensitivity of skin RT-QuIC was subtype dependent, being highest in sCJDVV1-2 subtype, followed by VV2, MV1-2, MV1, MV2, MM1, MM1-2, MM2, and VV1...Although no difference in brain PrP-SA was detected between the cases with false negative and true positive skin RT-QuIC results, the disease duration was significantly longer with the false negatives [12.0 ± 13.3 (months, SD) vs. 6.5 ± 6.4, p < 0.001]. Our study validates skin PrP-SA as a biomarker for the detection of prion diseases, which is influenced by the PrP types, PRNP 129 polymorphisms, dermatome sampled, and disease duration."

Novel histotypes of sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease linked to 129MV genotype.

We believe that the novel "C-PL" histotypes are distinct entities rather than intermediate forms between "C" and "C-K" groups, and that 1C-2PL and 1C-2K histotypes may be characterized by different T1 variants of the same size."

Development of an Automated Capillary Immunoassay to Detect Prion Glycotypes in Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.

The assay presented displays outstanding sensitivity, allowing for the preservation of valuable samples and enhancing current detection methods."

Defining the phenotypic spectrum of sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease MV2K: the kuru plaque type.
(PubMed, Brain)
- "The current classification of sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease identifies six major subtypes mainly defined by the combination of the genotype at polymorphic codon 129 (methionine/M or valine/V) of the prion protein gene and the type (1 or 2) of misfolded prion protein accumulating in the brain (e.g., MM1, MM2, MV1, MV2, etc.)...The plaque-type aggregation of the misfolded prion protein accounts for most of the atypical clinical features. Nonetheless, our data strongly suggest that the consistent use of the real-time quaking-induced conversion assay and brain diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging allows an accurate early clinical diagnosis in most patients."
