THE PHENOTYPIC SPECTRUM OF SPORADIC CREUTZFELDT-JAKOB DISEASE CORTICAL VARIANT (MM/MV2C)
(ADPD 2026)
- "The clinicopathologic phenotype of sCJDMM/MV2C diverges from that of the typical MM/MV1 subtype. Moreover, the histomolecular heterogeneity within MM/MV2C influences both clinical features and results of diagnostic investigations, challenging its identification in vitam. Nonetheless, our analysis suggests that DW-MRI and CSF RT-QuIC allow an accurate clinical diagnosis of sCJD in most patients."

SnSe/PVDF-HFP Composite Fibrous Membrane with Excellent Piezoelectric and Photocatalytic Dual Properties.
(PubMed, ACS Omega)
- "Experimental results demonstrate that the composite fibrous membrane exhibits outstanding dual functionality: On one hand, the flexible sensor based on its piezoelectric properties achieves an output voltage of 23.1 V and a sensitivity of 440 mV-1, enabling precise monitoring of human motion...Under the combined action of light irradiation and ultrasonic vibration, the composite fibrous membrane as a catalyst achieves 99.0% degradation rate of methylene blue within 120 min while maintaining excellent stability and recyclability, effectively addressing the recovery challenges of traditional powder catalysts. This work not only provides a novel material design strategy for integrating piezoelectric sensing and photocatalytic dual functions but also opens innovative pathways for developing wearable flexible electronic devices and easily recoverable catalysts."

An mRNA Vaccine Based on Antigens From Conserved Regions of Monkeypox Virus A35R and M1R With a Dimer-Like Conformation Confers Protection Against Both Monkeypox Virus and Vaccinia Virus Infections in Mice.
(PubMed, MedComm (2020))
- "All four vaccine candidates elicited varying degrees of humoral and cellular immune responses and conferred differential protection against MPXV and vaccinia virus (VACV) in BALB/c mice; notably, the dual-antigen vaccines MV1 and MV2 induced more potent immunogenicity, including higher neutralizing antibody titers and cytokine secretion levels...Notably, MV2-which was designed via structural truncation and recombination based on poxvirus-broad-spectrum antibodies using the AlphaFold3 prediction platform and adopts a single-chain "dimer-like" configuration-exhibited not only optimal protective efficacy but also sustained durable immune responses and protection. These findings indicate that MV2 induces favorable immunogenicity and has potential for preventing MPXV and VACV infections, supporting its promise as a clinical vaccine candidate for MPXV."

Canadian Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease incidence remained stable during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
(PubMed, Front Neurol)
- "Demographics, disease durations, and molecular subtypes of sporadic CJD (sCJD) were largely consistent across periods, although a higher proportion of females were tested during COVID and the prevalence of sCJD MV1 declined post-COVID. CJD prevalence and characteristics remained stable during COVID-19 despite increased EP-QuIC test submissions. These findings verify that CJD surveillance in Canada remained vigilant during the pandemic and highlight the value of EP-QuIC CSF testing for comprehensive CJD monitoring."

Measles vaccine-induced sero-protection among children with sickle cell anemia
(ASH 2025)
- P=N/A, P3 | "Among 35 children with samples available aftertheir first measles vaccine (MV1), the median age at MV1 was 1.1 (IQR 1.0-1.3) years, and 5 of 18 (28%)with available labs had elevated pit counts within one year of vaccination. In this retrospective cohort, sero-protection from measles vaccinations in children with SCAwas robust and comparable to rates observed in the general population. Notably, hydroxyurea treatmentdid not impair measles antibody responses. Older age at vaccination was associated with lower rates ofsero-protection, an important finding for families considering delayed vaccine schedules."

Differential Host Responses and Viral Replication of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 Strains in Diverse Cell Lines with a Raw Milk Supplement.
(PubMed, Life (Basel))
- "This study investigates the host cell responses to distinct H5N1 strains (bovine- and mink-derived H5N1) in the presence and absence of raw milk across diverse mammalian cell lines (MDCK, MDBK, A549, Vero, MV1)...These host gene modulations are cell-type- and strain-specific, suggesting a complex interplay that may theoretically influence virus-host dynamics, though the biological significance of these in vitro observations requires validation through infectious virus assays and in vivo studies. This hypothesis-generating work provides preliminary insights into H5N1-milk interactions, highlighting the need for further mechanistic investigation to assess potential implications for viral transmission in dairy environments."

Combining RAS(ON) G12C-selective and RAS(ON) multi-selective inhibitors overcomes sotorasib resistance driven byKRASG12C amplification or NRASG13R mutation
(AACR 2025)
- "Amplification of the KRASG12C mutant allele and acquisition of NRAS mutations have been reported as resistance mechanisms in tumors progressing on sotorasib and adagrasib...We generated five sotorasib-resistant cell lines from relapsed tumors of sotorasib-treated H358 xenografts (MR1-MR5) and two vehicle-treated tumors (MV1 and MV2). We created an additional isogenic cell line model, H358-MX1, by treating H358 cells with sotorasib and a SHP2 inhibitor, RMC-4550...In H358-MX1 mouse xenografts, RMC-7977 + RMC-4998 significantly inhibited tumor growth compared to single-agent treatments or other combination regimens. Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease: How Rare is Rare?
(AAN 2025)
- "Seven patients underwent autopsy and were confirmed as sporadic CJD and subtypes included MM1, MV2, VV2 and MV1-2...Our 45-month retrospective study found 14 CJD cases in Corewell Health, one of the large health systems in Michigan, which challenges the prevailing understanding that CJD is a rare disease. We also found higher incidence of CJD in 2022 and 2023 of unclear etiology. Further studies will be needed to investigate cases with negative RT-QuIC, high T-tau value and positive 14-3-3, to understand the true CJD incidence."

Pathological spectrum of sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
(PubMed, Pathology)
- "Six major clinicopathological subtypes of sCJD are internationally recognised, largely correlating with the combination of the two distinct types of the protease-resistant prion protein (PrPres type 1 or 2) and the methionine (M)/valine (V) polymorphism at codon 129 of the prion protein gene (PRNP): MM1/MV1, MM2-cortical, MM2-thalamic, MV2, VV1 and VV2...In this review, we will provide an up-to-date overview of the current classification of sCJD based on the prominent neuropathological features. In addition, with levels of infectivity at their highest in the brain, we will also discuss the additional precautions that are recommended when handling and examining postmortem tissues from patients with suspected prion disease."
