What do patients with induratio penis plastica expect from conservative and surgical therapy? Results of a prospective study from a high-volume center (#21)
(NORDKONGRESS 2022)
- "Conservative therapy included stretch therapy with a vacuum erection device (VED) plus phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors (PDE5I) in 42 patients (34%); 17 patients (14%) received VED, PDE5I and paraaminobenzoate (Potaba); 12 patients (10%) received VED; 4 patients (3%) received PDE5I; 2 patients (2%) received Potaba... IPP patients who will receive conservative therapy have fewer psychological and physical symptoms and less distress than patients who will receive surgical therapy. IPP patients expect fewer positive but also fewer negative effects from conservative therapy than from surgical therapy. The evaluation of expectations is important for the treatment of IPP patients in order to define realistic expectations and therapy goals."

"I didn't share but wish I could have been there. I was a young girl diagnosed around 9 years old. Took Potaba for 7 years."
