Life cycle analysis of ammonia-driven calcium looping processes for post-combustion CO2 capture in NGCC power plants.
(PubMed, J Environ Manage)
- "Economically, based on an annual operation time of 4000 h of NGCC, the solar-driven CaL system has the lowest Life Cycle Cost of GHG Removed (LCOR) at 247.7 $/t CO2. With anticipated reductions in ammonia prices to 240 $/t in 2050, the NH3-driven CaL system is expected to gain a significant advantage in economic at 46.5 $/t CO2 when natural gas price is 0.6 $/Nm3. And it is important to pay attention the clean production process of ammonia to reduce its impact on the environment."

Characteristics of Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young: A Single-Center Experience from a Tertiary Referral Hospital
(ESPE-ESE 2025)
- "Treatment regimens varied: 58.1% were on metformin, 4.7% on GLP-1 analogues, 14.7% on gliclazide, 18.6% on SGLT2 inhibitors, 21.7% on DPP-4 inhibitors, and 52.7% on insulin...At admission, mean HbA1c was 8.93±3.81%, with fasting plasma glucose at 213.7±88.5 mg/dL, creatinine at 0.74±0.18 mg/dL, and triglycerides at 247.7±232.3 mg/dL... Selecting appropriate patients for MODY genetic testing is crucial for avoiding unnecessary tests and ensuring effective diabetes management. Given ethnic differences in MODY types, large-scale national studies could contribute significantly to understanding its genetic and clinical variability."

INCIDENCE OF BRUTON TYROSINE KINASE INHIBITOR ASSOCIATED ARRHYTHMIAS: A PROSPECTIVE ANALYSIS USING CONTINUOUS INSERTABLE CARDIAC MONITORS - Jason Ng
(ACC 2025)
- "We report observations from the initial patients enrolled in this single center, prospective, pilot study. 12 patients enrolled from January 1 2023 to August 31 2024 included 6 on acalabrutinib, 5 on zanubrutinib, and 1 on ibrutinib...Non-sustained ventricular tachycardia (NSVT) occurred in 1 patient on acalabrutinib at 247 days and 1 on zanubrutinib at 78 days... This is the first prospective study utilizing continuous rhythm monitoring via ICM to enable early detection of asymptomatic arrhythmia in patients initiating BTKis. VA occurred in 2/12 patients (16.7 %) after initiating BTKis during median 9.5 months of follow up. This study will provide valuable data on the true incidence and patterns of BTKi-associated arrhythmias."

Apixaban versus aspirin for stroke prevention in people with subclinical atrial fibrillation and a history of stroke or transient ischaemic attack: subgroup analysis of the ARTESiA randomised controlled trial.
(PubMed, Lancet Neurol)
- P4 | "Treatment with the direct-acting oral anticoagulant apixaban in people with subclinical atrial fibrillation and a history of stroke or transient ischaemic attack led to a 7% absolute risk reduction in stroke or systemic embolism over 3·5 years, compared with a 1% absolute risk reduction for individuals without a previous history of stroke or transient ischaemic attack. The corresponding absolute increase in major bleeding was 3% and 1%, respectively. Apixaban could be considered for secondary stroke prevention in people with subclinical atrial fibrillation and a history of stroke or transient ischaemic attack."

A single phosphorylatable amino acid residue is essential for the recognition of multiple potyviral HCPro effectors by potato Nytbr.
(PubMed, Mol Plant Pathol)
- "We found that substituting the serine at 247 in the HCPro of PVYO (HCProO) with an alanine as in PVYN HCPro (HCProN) disrupts Nytbr recognition...Extending beyond PVY, we establish that the same response elicited by the PVYO HCPro is also induced by HCPro proteins from other members of the Potyviridae family that have a serine at position 247, but not by those with an alanine. Together, our results provide further insights in the strain-specific PVY resistance in potato and infer a broad-spectrum detection mechanism of plant potyvirus effectors contingent on a single amino acid residue."

Optimizing the green synthesis of antibacterial TiO2 - anatase phase nanoparticles derived from spinach leaf extract.
(PubMed, Sci Rep)
- "The change in the color of the extract, absorption at 247 nm, change and increase of the peak at 800 - 400 wavelengths, and the maximum intensity of X-ray diffraction at the angle of 25.367 with the crystal plane 101 were indications of the synthesis of these nanoparticles. Notably, the synthesized nanoparticles exhibited antibacterial activity with MIC values of 0.5 mg/ml against E. coli and 2 mg/ml against S. aureus. This research presents a novel, eco-friendly approach to synthesizing titanium dioxide nanoparticles with promising antibacterial properties."

Extraction and characterization of novel alternative cellulosic fiber for sustainable textiles from Aloe barbadensis Miller stems (agricultural waste).
(PubMed, Heliyon)
- "The UV-Visible spectrum exhibited a distinct λ max at 247 nm in ethanol, while FT-IR analysis provided characteristic peaks at 3759, 1590, 1750, 1663, 1250, 564, SEM images displayed the smooth surface morphology of the fibers, and X-ray diffraction analysis indicated a high degree of crystallinity (78.67 %), suggesting a well-structured and crystalline nature. Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis was conducted to determine the elemental composition of the fibers, revealing the presence of carbon, oxygen, calcium, and copper, with carbon being the predominant element in cellulose. These results showed promising properties suggesting potential applications in textile industry as an alternative sustainable natural cellulosic fiber."

Kinetics and mechanism of the (silver nanoparticle) SNaP assay for quantitative determination of antioxidant capacity
(ACS-Fall 2024)
- "Subsequently, we explored the mechanism of the assay by determining concentration of Ag+ ion (by Ag+ selective electrode) and gallic acid and ascorbic acid (by UV/Vis at 247 nm) before and after assay reagent incubation using a Discover SP laboratory microwave. We show that concentrations of Ag+ and antioxidant (as gallic acid or ascorbic acid) decrease over time while LSPR of the AgNPs increases to a certain limit, indicating that the AgNPs grow to a certain size before they are growth-limited by the presence of stabilizing antioxidants. These data are useful for understanding how this assay works to produce enhanced LSPR in the presence of antioxidants from foods and beverages."

Designing dynamic coordination bonds in polar hybrid crystals for a high-temperature ferroelastic transition.
(PubMed, Chem Sci)
- "In detail, the strongly coordinative A'-site Me3SO+ cations prevent 1 from a structural phase transition, while coordinatively free A'-site Me4N+ cations trigger a conventional order-disorder ferroelastic transition at 247 K in 2, accompanied by a latent heat of 0.63 J g-1 and a usual "high → low" second-harmonic-generation (SHG) switch. Interestingly, the A'-site Me3NNH2+ cations in 3 reveal unusual dynamic coordination bonds, driving a high-temperature ferroelastic transition at 369 K with a large latent heat of 18.34 J g-1 and an unusual "low → high" SHG-switching behaviour. This work provides an effective molecular assembly strategy to establish dynamic coordination bonds in a new type of host-guest model and opens an avenue for designing advanced ferroelastic multifunctional materials."
