Removal of the Metal Ion Lead II from Aqueous Effluents Using the Stem Bark of Ximenia americana L.
(PubMed, ACS Omega)
- "The process was endothermic, with ΔH° = 77.4 kJ mol-1, and showed increased system disorder, as indicated by ΔS° = 0.29 kJ mol-1 K-1. In view of these findings, this study contributes to the development of sustainable alternatives for environmental decontamination and highlights X. americana as a promising natural resource for the treatment of wastewater and industrial effluents, its bark, although little explored, presents high efficiency, low cost, selectivity and reuse, characteristics that position this biosorbent as a viable alternative, compared to conventional technologies such as activated carbon, membranes and nanomaterials."

A new highly concentrated insulin aspart AT278 (500 IU/ml) demonstrates ultra-rapid pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties in type 2 diabetes regardless of BMI
(EASD 2025)
- "AT278 exhibited significantly accelerated early PK/PD properties compared with IAsp in overweight and obese people with type 2 diabetes. Whilst IAsp showed slower early glucose-lowering action with increasing BMI, AT278 maintained its ultra-fast properties regardless of BMI, potentially improving quality of life for people with diabetes on high-dose insulin therapy."

Significance of halogen bonding in the synergistic nucleation of iodine oxoacids and iodine oxides.
(PubMed, Chem Sci)
- "Such a basicity enhancement effect can be extended to other iodine-containing species, e.g., HIO2 and the more acidic HIO3, suggesting a common feature in interactions between iodine-containing species. Our findings clarify the synergistic nucleation of iodine oxoacids and iodine oxides and highlight the necessity of considering the effect of halogen bond-induced basicity enhancement on the formation of iodine-containing particles."

Does Volume Matter? Trends and Outcomes in Right-Sided Living Donor Nephrectomy
(WTC 2025)
- "Our study suggests that overall RLDN continues to decrease in utilization and risks becoming a lost skill amongst future transplant surgeons. Overall graft and recipient survival appeared to be similar between high and low volume centers. However, secondary differences noted could be attributed to higher risk tolerance and more aggressive patient selection at high volume centers."

D-Amino acid analysis in solution using the photochemical properties of protonated adenosine.
(PubMed, Photochem Photobiol Sci)
- "This ability, which was discovered in the gas phase, was used in quantitative-analysis applications in solution. The molar fractions of L-histidine and D-histidine in solution were determined by measuring the relative abundance of the precursor and product ions in the single product-ion spectrum of the hydrogen-bonded clusters generated from solution and with reference to a calibration curve."

(PubMed, RSC Adv)
- "PL decay lifetime analysis at λ ex = 278 nm and λ em = 576 nm elucidated the decay kinetics, affirming the phosphor's high external quantum yield (∼59%). CIE chromaticity coordinates place the emission squarely in the white light spectrum, underscoring the exceptional potential of these phosphors for advanced white light-emitting display technologies."

Urea-Formaldehyde Strengthened by Polyvinyl Alcohol: Impact on Mulch Film Properties and Cucumber Cultivation.
(PubMed, Polymers (Basel))
- "Compared to no mulching (NM), BioT1 increased both the specific root length and root density, as well as improved the plant height, stem diameter, and total biomass of the cucumbers by 43.5%, 34.1%, and 33.9%, respectively. Therefore, a mass ratio of paper powder, water, and W4UF of 1:30:2 produced a biodegradable mulch film that could be used as an alternative to LDPE, mitigating the environmental pollution rendered by synthetic plastic mulch films and offering the potential for a sustainable agricultural application."

Waste-derived marigold flower carbon dot spray and gel formulations exhibit enhanced wound healing in deep excisional cutaneous and burn wounds.
(PubMed, J Mater Chem B)
- "Histology and immunohistochemistry supported enhanced collagen synthesis and remodeling in the treated tissue; however, the gel demonstrated marginally superior results compared to the spray, as it adhered more securely. These results show that the developed marigold-derived CDs are biocompatible, promote angiogenesis, and enhance healing of deep excisional and burn wounds."

- "On the other hand, the solubility data were modeled by using the van't Hoff-Yalkowsky-Roseman model, obtaining an overall average relative deviation of 3.9%. In general terms, it can be concluded that the solution process of SMR in {MeCN (1) + EtOH (2)} mixtures is thermodependent, favored by the entropy of the solution and mixture; additionally, the van't Hoff-Yalkowsky-Roseman model allows very good approximations to be obtained and is a simple model that starts from only four experimental data."
