The effects of gender-affirming testosterone therapy in transgender men on the development of acne, acne severity and the relationship with clinical parameters: a three-year follow-up study.
(PubMed, Eur J Dermatol)
- "Investigated risk factors included: age at initiation of GATT, body mass index (BMI), type of testosterone administration, use of lynestrenol, alcohol use, smoking and serum testosterone concentrations during therapy...Risk factors that influence the occurrence of moderate to severe acne in testosterone-treated transgender men are high BMI, younger age at initiation of GATT and testosterone concentrations within or above the target range. These observations could be taken into account when counselling transgender men starting GATT."

Progestins as a contributing factor to hepatocellular adenoma: a case series and literature review.
(PubMed, J Pediatr Adolesc Gynecol)
- "These cases and the literature review suggest an association between progestin exposure, in particular NET and its prodrugs, and the development of HA. The pathophysiology is unknown but may include peripheral conversion of NET and NETA to ethinyl estradiol or a specific action of 19-nortestosterone derivatives on hepatocytes, especially those with higher systemic doses compared to the levonorgestrel-IUD. There are no case reports relating to other forms of progestins such as 17-hydroxyprogesterone, which may be important when considering alternative therapeutic options in females requiring effective menstrual management who have comorbidities."

Protein C and protein S deficiencies are associated with increased risk of deep vein thrombosis in pregnant women using oral contraceptives.
(PubMed, Blood Coagul Fibrinolysis)
- "This study suggests that the use of contraceptives, particularly those containing Desogestrel, Norgestimate, and Gestodene, may be associated with a higher risk of thrombosis because of the associated lower levels of PS. Monitoring anticoagulant levels is crucial in preventing DVT in this population."

"Toen ik vroeger een ingreep voor endometriose op de operatieplanning zette vroeg mijn favoriete anesthesist altijd of ik zeker was dat ik het met Orgametril niet kon oplossen. Ik heb weinig endometriose geopereerd trouwens."

Method of Hormonal Contraception and Protective Effects Against Ectopic Pregnancy.
(PubMed, Obstet Gynecol)
- "Hormonal contraception lowers the risk of ectopic pregnancy markedly. The incidence rate of ectopic pregnancy among women using a low-dose hormonal IUD (13.5 mg LNG) was substantially higher than that in women using other types of hormonal contraception. This study provides real-world evidence to inform best clinical practice for women-centered contraceptive counseling."
