Genotypic and Phenotypic Characterisation of Staphylococcus aureus Enterotoxins Using Single-Cell Raman Spectroscopy and Metabolomics.
(PubMed, Pathogens)
- "Furthermore, the CNN analysis identified characteristic spectral peaks for S. aureus enterotoxin genotypes at 1663-1665 cm-1, 1570 cm-1, and 1117-1119 cm-1, corresponding to protein α-helices, guanine, and nucleic acid backbones respectively...Thus, this study employed S. aureus as a proof-of-concept, establishing for the first time a method combining Raman laser tweezers with convolutional neural networks for identifying S. aureus enterotoxin genotypes and phenotypes. It clarified the Raman spectral differential peaks and their corresponding biomarkers among five classical enterotoxin genotypes and phenotypic strains, providing a novel approach for accurate toxin typing and virulence characterisation."

Rift Valley Fever Virus Exposure in Camels and Horses Across Northern Nigeria Livestock Markets.
(PubMed, Pathogens)
- "A total of 1117 animals were sampled, comprising camels (812) and horses (305), across three major livestock markets (Maigatari, Maiduguri, and Illela)...However, in horses, females were significantly more likely to test positive than males (OR = 0.27, 95% CI: 0.07-0.97). These findings demonstrate endemic RVFV circulation in Nigerian livestock, highlighting species- and location-specific differences, and underscore the zoonotic risks within regional and transboundary livestock trade networks."

CCR-CCL axes as key upstream influencers of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma: CCR2-CCL2, CCR5-CCL5, CCR4-CCL17/22, CCR6-CCL20, CCR7-CCL19/21.
(PubMed, Front Immunol)
- "We further detail past and ongoing therapeutic efforts and trials addressing these axes in both PDAC and relevant non-PDAC settings via several small-molecule antagonists and monoclonal antibodies: BMS-813160, Maraviroc, Leronlimab, FLX475, PF-07054894, IDOR- 1117-2520, and CAP-100. Despite continuous advances in the field, the current body of evidence remains limited and presents significant research gaps in areas such as spatial profiling, stage-specific analyses, and general mechanistic validation in PDAC-specific settings. Addressing these shortcomings will be key to developing a more comprehensive knowledge of the field and improving future therapeutic strategies to overcome PDAC."

Regulatory roles of three Zn(II)2Cys6 cluster-coding genes in insect pathogenicity and environmental fitness of Beauveria bassiana.
(PubMed, Pestic Biochem Physiol)
- "Three representative C6 TFs (138, 359, and 1117 aa) with an N-terminal GAL4 domain alone were proven to be regulators of insect pathogenicity, named Rip1-3...Notably, numerous co-dysregulated genes were linked to the mutants' main phenotypes, such as attenuated virulence and reduced stress tolerance. Conclusively, Rip1-3 played similar regulatory roles determined by the N-terminal GAL4 domain, suggesting convergent evolution in their mediating insect pathogenicity and environmental fitness of B. bassiana."

Understanding the menopause transition in sickle cell disease: An analysis of the implementation of the adapted menopause quick 6
(ASH 2025)
- "Treatment use included hydroxyurea (45%mean dose: 1117 ± 444 mg/day; median: 1000), chronic exchange transfusion (10%), L-glutamine (2%),and voxelotor (7%). Half reported chronic opioid use (mean: 113 ± 115 MME/day), and 21% were takingmedications against neuropathic pain (e.g., gabapentin)...Midlife women with SCD report a substantial burden of menopausal symptoms—particularly hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and joint pain. Symptom burden appears influenced by age and hematologicparameters, while disease-modifying therapies may mitigate reported symptoms or individuals withsevere disease may not experience the typical hormonal related menopausal symptoms. These findingslay some foundational groundwork for future studies examining the interplay between disease severity, treatment, and reproductive aging in women with SCD."

Prevalence and associated plasmid resistant genome of ESBL and AmpC producing commensal E. coli isolated from lactating cows and pre-weaned calves on dairy farms in Western Australia.
(PubMed, Prev Vet Med)
- "Phenotypic analysis of 1117 faecal samples from 26 Western Australian dairy farms revealed a low overall prevalence (7.3 %) of ESBL and/or AmpC-producing commensal E. coli, with 3.2 % in cows (n = 633) and 12.8 % in calves (n = 484). All isolates were classified 'non-wildtype' for ampicillin and ceftiofur, with 95.1 % classified as 'non-wildtype' multidrug resistant (MDR)...Multiple correspondence analysis (with chi-square-based 95 % confidence ellipses) showed variation in pDNA AMR genes and replicons by farm, with generally distinct plasmid profiles, though some clustering suggests possible farm-to-farm plasmid transmission. In conclusion, though low in prevalence, ESBL and/or AmpC producing commensal E. coli having high phenotypic AMR, MDR, and pDNA diversity were isolated from dairy cattle on 65.4 % of screened farms."
