Eli Lilly’s (LLY) acquisition spree continued after the pharmaceutical behemoth agreed to acquire Merida Biosciences for up to $2.875 billion in cash, in a bid to strengthen its autoimmune and allergic diseases portfolio (Yahoo Finance) - "If the deal goes through, it would mark Lilly's 13th acquisition in 2026. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter....Merida's lead drug, MER511, is in Phase 1 development for Graves' disease, an autoimmune disease related to the thyroid gland as well as thyroid eye disease....Merida is also developing MER769 for food allergies, asthma and chronic spontaneous urticaria, a type of skin disease."

NEXUS STUDY: A Phase 1 Trial to Evaluate MER511, A Fusion Protein Designed to Eliminate Circulating Pathogenic Anti-TSHR Autoantibodies for the Treatment of Graves' Disease (ENDO 2026) - "MER511is engineered to selectively deplete the pathogenic anti-TSHR autoantibodies that cause GD, as well as inhibit their ongoing production by pathogenic B-cells, while preserving endogenous thyroid hormone axis activity. This first-in-human NEXUS Study aims to establish initial safety, tolerability, PK, pharmacodynamics, and immunogenicity of MER511 to support further clinical development for the treatment of GD."
