(PubMed, Antibiotics (Basel)) - "Minimum inhibitory concentration and susceptibility testing were performed on bacteria isolated from the conjunctival sac and nasal cavity using cefmenoxime, ceftazidime, levofloxacin, gatifloxacin, and moxifloxacin. The nasal microbiome α- and β-diversity did not differ significantly between groups, although exploratory LEfSe analysis suggested candidate taxon-level differences. Repeated prophylactic use of antibiotic eye drops was associated with reduced susceptibility in both the conjunctival sac and nasal cavity."

Perianal necrotizing fasciitis with superior mediastinal infection after prolapsed hemorrhoid surgery: A rare case report (ASCRS 2026) - "The local hospital treated him with increased cefuroxime + metronidazole, but in vain; he was transferred to our hospital on post-op Day 3 due to suspected infection spread.Admission exam: Extensive crepitus in neck/chest skin; moist perianal area with yellowish foul pus...Anti-infective therapy: Empirical imipenem-cilastatin + metronidazole → de-escalated to cefmenoxime (pus culture: Streptococcus pyogenes) → oral cefpodoxime. He was transferred to ICU for supportive care. (PubMed, J Infect Chemother) - "Levofloxacin 1.5% eye drops and fluorometholone 0.1% eye drops, each four times daily, were initiated before the results of conjunctival culture were available...Cefmenoxime hydrochloride 0.5% eye drops eight times daily were added and a single dose of oral levofloxacin 500 mg was administered to prevent IMD...All ST-11026 isolates have been found to lack the ability to synthesize capsular polysaccharide, which is one of the meningococcal pathogenicity. If a patient presents with conjunctivitis with copious ocular purulent discharge, conjunctival culture should be performed promptly for early diagnosis of PMC regardless of the patient's age."

An unusual case of primary melioidotic prostatic disease: Misdiagnosed as benign prostatic hyperplasia. Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) was administered orally for twelve weeks after discharge. Synergistic antimicrobial combination of third-generation cephalosporins and polymyxin B against carbapenem-polymyxin-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae: an in vitro and in vivo analysis. The synergistic effects of the CTX-PMB and CMX-PMB combinations, both in vitro and in vivo, indicate that these antibiotic pairings could represent effective therapeutic options for infections caused by CPR-Kp."
