A case of primary meningococcal conjunctivitis in an older patient.
(PubMed, J Infect Chemother)
- "Levofloxacin 1.5% eye drops and fluorometholone 0.1% eye drops, each four times daily, were initiated before the results of conjunctival culture were available...Cefmenoxime hydrochloride 0.5% eye drops eight times daily were added and a single dose of oral levofloxacin 500 mg was administered to prevent IMD...All ST-11026 isolates have been found to lack the ability to synthesize capsular polysaccharide, which is one of the meningococcal pathogenicity. If a patient presents with conjunctivitis with copious ocular purulent discharge, conjunctival culture should be performed promptly for early diagnosis of PMC regardless of the patient's age."

An unusual case of primary melioidotic prostatic disease: Misdiagnosed as benign prostatic hyperplasia.
(PubMed, Heliyon)
- "Cefmenoxime and Piperacillin were given for anti-infective treatment, but both of the effects were not satisfactory. Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) was administered orally for twelve weeks after discharge. Therefore, clinicians need to have an understanding of primary melioidotic prostate disease to avoid misdiagnosis and mistreatment to improve the cure rate and survival rate of patients."

Combination effect of levofloxacin and cefmenoxime against ocular isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
(PubMed, Cont Lens Anterior Eye)
- "The combination of LVFX with CMX may have beneficial interactions which increase antibacterial activity against P. aeruginosa isolates and may be a feasible option for addressing the issue of bacteria resistant to each antibiotic."

Synergistic antimicrobial combination of third-generation cephalosporins and polymyxin B against carbapenem-polymyxin-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae: an in vitro and in vivo analysis.
(PubMed, Antimicrob Agents Chemother)
- "A checkerboard assay was performed to evaluate the synergistic effects of cephalexin (CLX), cefixime, cefotaxime (CTX), and cefmenoxime (CMX) in combination with PMB. The in vivo model revealed that the CTX-PMB and CMX-PMB treatments improved the survival rates of C. elegans. The synergistic effects of the CTX-PMB and CMX-PMB combinations, both in vitro and in vivo, indicate that these antibiotic pairings could represent effective therapeutic options for infections caused by CPR-Kp."

FDA-Approved Oximes and Their Significance in Medicinal Chemistry.
(PubMed, Pharmaceuticals (Basel))
- "Among the several oxime based derivatives, cefuroxime, ceftizoxime, cefpodoxime and cefmenoxime are the FDA approved oxime-based antibiotics. Given the pharmacological significance of oximes, in the present paper, we put together all the FDA-approved oximes and discuss their mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics and synthesis."

Survey of nebulizer therapy for nasal inflammatory diseases in Japan before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
(PubMed, Auris Nasus Larynx)
- "Because it is important to perform nasal pretreatment and strict disinfection of nebulizer equipment, it is clear that education of otorhinolaryngologists as well as paramedical personnel is required to ensure safe and effective use of nebulizer therapy in Japan."

Comparison of sports skills movement training to lower limb strength training for independently ambulatory children with cerebral palsy: a randomised feasibility trial.
(PubMed, Disabil Rehabil)
- "Sports skills movement training may be an effective option to support advanced gross motor skill gains and target goals of independently ambulatory children with CP. Trial feasibility, including early evidence of effectiveness, indicates readiness for a full-scale randomised trial. Implications for rehabilitation Children with cerebral palsy have potential to improve advanced gross motor skills. Strength training is a commonly used approach in gross motor therapy programmes. Sports skill training may be an effective option that better targets children's goals."

Secondary Fracture Prevention: Consensus Clinical Recommendations from a Multistakeholder Coalition.
(PubMed, J Orthop Trauma)
- "Oral bisphosphonates alendronate and risedronate are first-line options and are generally well tolerated; otherwise, intravenous zoledronic acid and subcutaneous denosumab can be considered. Individuals beingtreatedfor osteoporosis shouldbe reevaluated for fracture risk routinely, includingvia patienteducationabout osteoporosisandfracturesandmonitoringfor adverse treatment effects.Patients shouldbestronglyencouraged to avoid tobacco, consume alcohol inmoderation atmost, and engage in regular exercise and fall prevention strategies. Finally, referral to endocrinologists or other osteoporosis specialists may be warranted for individuals who experience repeated fracture or bone loss and those with complicating comorbidities (eg, hyperparathyroidism, chronic kidney disease)."
