Granisetron as a Novel Treatment for Acute Food Protein-induced Enterocolitis Syndrome.
(PubMed, JMA J)
- "Our case series aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of intravenous granisetron in acute FPIES episodes...Given the limited evidence on granisetron for FPIES, accumulating case reports is essential for guiding clinical trials and regulatory approval. Further comparative studies of granisetron and ondansetron are warranted."

Application of bilateral recto-intercostal fascial plane block as rescue analgesia after laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a case report
(Euroanaesthesia 2025)
- "described a new interfascial plane block technique called the "Recto-Intercostal Fascial Plane Block"(RIFPB).RIFPB is performed between the rectus abdominis muscle and the sixth and seventh costal cartilages just inferior lateral to the xiphoid.RIFPB targets the anterior and lateral cutaneous branches of the T6-T9 thoracoabdominal nerves. This case report, consisting of two cases, aims to share the analgesic effects of RIFPB when applied as rescue analgesia in patients whose pain could not be controlled with IV analgesics following laparoscopic cholecystectomy.Case Report: Informed consent was obtained, and standard ASA monitoring was performed for laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery on a 51-year-old female patient with ASA II due to smoking and a 49-year-old female patient with ASA II due to hypertension.Anesthesia induction was performed with 1 mcg/kg fentanyl IV 1 mg/kg lidocaine IV and 2 mg/kg propofol IV.Maintenance anesthesia included sevoflurane..."

Retrospective observational study comparing the combination of granisetron and dexamethasone vs. ondansetron and dexamethasone as prophylaxis in patients at high risk for PONV undergoing orthopedic surgeries
(Euroanaesthesia 2025)
- "Dexamethasone 4 mg iv plus at the end of surgery approximately 30 minutes before extubation, they received either Ondansetron 4 mg iv or Granisetron 1 mg iv. A P-value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results and There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups for incidence of PONV or the need for rescue antiemetic. Conclusion(s): Combination therapy should consist of drugs from different classes, using minimum effective doses, and the choice of drugs will be determined by patient factors as well as institutional policy and drug availability. However, larger studies are needed on this subject."

Effect of Selective 5-Hydroxytryptamine-3 Receptor and Neurokinin-1 Receptor Antagonists on Hemodynamic Changes and Arrhythmogenic Potential in Patients Receiving Chemotherapy: A Retrospective, Observational Study.
(PubMed, J Clin Med)
- "Patients were grouped by anti-emetic medication: intravenous granisetron (Group G), oral aprepitant plus IV granisetron (Group AG), IV palonosetron (Group P), and oral aprepitant plus IV palonosetron (Group AP). Hypotension was more frequent at 30 min post-medication in granisetron or aprepitant recipients. Considering no hypotension occurred when using palonosetron alone, this treatment was deemed safer."

Doublet or triplet antiemetic prophylaxis for trastuzumab deruxtecan-induced nausea and vomiting: An open-label, randomized, multicenter, exploratory phase 2 study
(SABCS 2023)
- "Patients were randomly assigned to receive granisetron and dexamethasone (arm GD) or granisetron, dexamethasone, and aprepitant (fosaprepitant; arm GDA). Patients in both treatment arms were administered granisetron (1 mg i.v. 30 min before T-DXd on day 1)... Breast cancer patients receiving T-DXd require triple therapy, including mandatory NK1RA administration, for antiemetic prophylaxis. Further investigation is needed to explore the development of more appropriate combination therapies for T-DXd-induced nausea and vomiting."

The effect of intravenous granisetron on prophylactic ephedrine for preventing hypotension after general anaesthesia induction in elderly patients: a randomized controlled trial.
(PubMed, Sci Rep)
- "The conclusion was further supported by probit regression analysis (0.09 mg kg [95% CI, 0.05-0.12 mg kg] in group granisetron and 0.14 mg kg [95% CI, 0.12-0.16 mg kg] in group control). Intravenous granisetron reduced the requirement of prophylactic ephedrine in preventing hypotension after general anaesthesia induction in elderly patients."

Comparison of Intravenous Granisetron and Ondansetron on Hemodynamics and Sensory Motor Block After Spinal Anaesthesia With Hyperbaric Bupivacaine in Patients Undergoing Elective Surgery: A Randomized Double-Blind Study.
(PubMed, Cureus)
- "Premedication with ondansetron 4mg and granisetron 1mg intravenously significantly reduces ephedrine use. Ondansetron provides better hemodynamic stability, earlier onset of the sensory and motor blocks as well as prolonged duration of sensory and motor blocks, and duration of analgesia compared to granisetron."

To Compare the Effectiveness of Granisetron Versus Ondansetron to Control Nausea and Vomiting During Lower Segment Cesarean Section Under Subarachnoid Block.
(PubMed, Anesth Essays Res)
- "Ondansetron and granisetron intravenous (i.v.) are useful for avoiding bradycardia and hypotension...Eighty patients undergoing elective cesarean section under spinal anesthesia by intrathecal bupivacaine were randomly divided into two groups (40 pregnant females of the American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status Classes I and II in each Group). Group 1 received granisetron 40 mg.kg i.v. stat after clamping the cord and Group 2 given i.v. ondansetron 8 mg stat after clamping the cord...In the "early postoperative period," NV observed in 7.5% and 10.0% participants in Groups 1 and 2, respectively (P > 0.05), and in "late postoperative period," NV observed in 0.0% and 22.5% participants in Groups 1 and 2, respectively (P < 0.05). Granisetron reduces the severity of spinal-induced hypotension, need for rescue vasopressor, and incidence of nausea."

Adjunctive granisetron therapy in patients with sepsis or septic shock (GRANTISS): A single-center, single-blinded, randomized, controlled clinical trial.
(PubMed, Front Pharmacol)
- " Adult patients with sepsis and procalcitonin ≥ 2 ng/ml were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive intravenous granisetron (3 mg every 8 h) or normal saline at the same volume and frequency for 4 days or until intensive care unit discharge... Granisetron did not improve 28-day mortality in patients with sepsis. However, a further clinical trial targeted to septic patients without abdominal/digestive tract infections perhaps is worthy of consideration."
