Chromosome-level genome assembly and structural variant analysis of two laboratory yeast strains from the Peterhof Genetic Collection lineage.
(PubMed, G3 (Bethesda))
- "We discovered a substantial enrichment of mid-length insertions and deletions within repetitive coding sequences, such as in the SCH9 gene or the NUP100 gene, with possible impact of these variants on protein amyloidogenicity...We show that formation of hybrid alleles of the FLO genes during such chromosomal rearrangements is likely responsible for the lack of invasive growth of yeast strains. Taken together, our results highlight important features of laboratory yeast strain evolution using the power of long-read sequencing."

The Role of Transcription Factors and Nuclear Pore Proteins in Controlling the Spatial Organization of the Yeast Genome.
(PubMed, Dev Cell)
- "While some TFs require Nup100, others do not, suggesting two distinct targeting mechanisms. These results highlight an important and underappreciated function of TFs in controlling the spatial organization of the yeast genome through interaction with the NPC."

Exceptional hydrogen storage achieved by screening nearly half a million metal-organic frameworks.
(PubMed, Nat Commun)
- "...Three MOFs with capacities surpassing that of IRMOF-20, the record-holder for balanced hydrogen capacity, are demonstrated: SNU-70, UMCM-9, and PCN-610/NU-100...Instead, capacity is maximized by increasing gravimetric surface area and porosity. This suggests that property/performance trends for total capacities may not translate to usable capacities."
