Somatic Changes of Maternal High-Fat Diet on Offspring-Possible Deleterious Effects of Flavonoids?
(PubMed, Nutrients)
- "Interestingly, the offspring of the groups that received flavonoids in addition to the HFD had significantly smaller dimensions compared to both the HFD group and the control group. The results of this experimental study reinforce what is already known about the effects of obesity on the gestation period and offspring and at the same time, the current study highlights the existence of possible adverse effects of flavonoid compounds on the development of pregnancy and offspring, opening the way for future studies on the benefits and risks of using these compounds during gestational period."

Prescription versus over-the-counter venotonics: HPLC-DAD and static digestive model simulation comparison.
(PubMed, Int Angiol)
- "Our experimental results show that the contents of both listed active substances, diosmin and hesperidin, met the declared amounts in all tested medicaments. Digestion simulation showed identical behaviour in prescription and OTC venotonics. The active substances could not be determined in the non-alkalized sample. Digestion did not affect the solubility of the tested drugs."

Potential anti-schistosomal effect of Daflon, a repurposed drug targeting different stages of Schistosome maturity.
(PubMed, Parasitol Res)
- "DAF was administrated at a dose of 100 mg/kg/mouse on days zero, 21, and 42 post-infection towards the invasive, immature, and mature stages of Schistosoma mansoni respectively in comparison to the standard anti-schistosomal drug (Praziquantel). The female worm from DAF-treated groups showed tegumental edema with loss of the spines at the posterior end. Compared to the documented reduction of testosterone levels and distortion of testicular architecture in the S. mansoni-infected untreated group, DAF significantly restored testosterone levels and testicular architecture."

Testicular toxicity in cisplatin-treated Wistar rats is mitigated by Daflon and associated with modulation of Nrf2/HO-1 and TLR4/NF-kB signaling.
(PubMed, J Trace Elem Med Biol)

Effect of daflon-500, a flavonoid compound on chlorpyriphos-induced oxidative changes in the hypophysis and testes in adult male rats.
(PubMed, Toxicol Res)
- "The levels of these oxidative and biochemical parameters were alleviated in the group pretreated with Daflon-500 . Results of this study demonstrated that pre-treatment with Daflon-500 mitigated CP-induced alterations in oxidative and biochemical parameters apparently due to the antioxidant effect of the flavonoid compound."

Clozapine-Induced Carpopedal Lymphedema: A Case Report
(APA 2022)
- "The patient has been using levothyroxine (125 mcg/day), ASA (100 mg/day), prednisolone (5 mg/day), ezetimibe (10 mg/day), atorvastatin (10 mg/day), benidipine (4 mg/day), nebivolol (5 mg/day) when clozapine treatment was initiated and carpopedal edema developed around 4 weeks after the onset of the treatment when clozapine dose was increased to 100 mg. Following the development of edema, clozapine was stopped and switched to amisulpride. In addition, although the patient was using benidipe for more than 2 years without any complaints, benidipine was switched to telmisartan/hydochlorothiazide, due to known common side effects of calcium channel blockers in causing peripheral edema...Our observation can be explained as an idiosyncratic drug reaction or a complex drug-drug interaction that precipitated lymphedema through unknown mechanisms. Additional preclinical studies and controlled trials are to be performed to verify this observation."

Flavonoid fractions of diosmin and hesperidin mitigate lead acetate-induced biochemical, oxidative stress, and histopathological alterations in Wistar rats.
(PubMed, Toxicol Res)
- "Data obtained from the current study indicate that rats exposed to sub-chronic doses of lead acetate show increased blood lead levels, electrolyte imbalance, alongside impairment in ZPP levels, activities of antioxidant enzymes, and histopathology, while pretreatment using daflon mitigated the ensued perturbations. This, therefore, suggests that consumption of foods enriched with flavonoid fractions of diosmin and hesperidin may be beneficial for individuals inhabiting lead-polluted environments."
