Iodine and Thyroid Dysfunction in Ageing: Nutritional, Pharmacologic, and Microbial Modifiers in Older Adults.
(PubMed, Geriatrics (Basel))
- "Polypharmacy, including amiodarone, lithium, and proton pump inhibitors, further destabilizes thyroid function... Overall, variations in iodine intake emerge as one of the main determinants of thyroid dysfunction in ageing with nutritional, pharmacologic, and other modifiers primarily influencing iodine-related thyroid vulnerability. The adoption of age-adjusted thyroid reference ranges and preventive monitoring can reduce overtreatment and improve metabolic resilience in later life."

Recurrent syncope due to ischemic ventricular tachycardia masquerading as a seizure disorder treated with coronary revascularization: a case report.
(PubMed, Oxf Med Case Reports)
- "Improvement was observed after revascularization, though the mechanism remains inferred and may have been influenced by concomitant amiodarone. Clinicians should consider cardiac arrhythmias in atypical seizure-like episodes, especially in adults with cardiovascular risk factors."

Comparing Liquid Vortex Capture & the Rapid Droplet Sampling Interface for Single Cell Mass Spectrometry.
(PubMed, J Am Soc Mass Spectrom)
- "RDSI demonstrated up to 100-fold improvements in sensitivity for drugs and lipids such as propranolol, amiodarone, atorvastatin, and phosphocholines in water and phosphate-buffered solutions. Single-cell uptake of atorvastatin incubated for 10 min, or amiodarone incubated for 24 h in HepG2 cells, similarly revealed up to 85-fold enhancement in sensitivity by RDSI for drugs and lipids. These findings highlight the potential of RDSI for enhancing sensitivity in single-cell drug monitoring and lipidomics."

Amiodarone-Induced Thyrotoxicosis Presenting as Refractory Atrial Fibrillation in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: A Case Report.
(PubMed, Cureus)
- "The patient continued to experience recurrent arrhythmic episodes despite withdrawal of amiodarone and aggressive pharmacological management, highlighting the complex bidirectional relationship between thyroid dysfunction and cardiac arrhythmias. This case underscores the importance of early recognition of AIT in patients with difficult-to-control atrial fibrillation and emphasizes the need for a multidisciplinary approach involving cardiology and endocrinology."

Histology of amiodarone-induced liver injury revisited: A retrospective morphologic analysis.

Furthermore, cholestasis in biopsy samples may suggest a poorer prognosis in patients on amiodarone."

OUTCOME OF HEART TRANSPLANT PATIENTS WITH PACEMAKERS PLACED AFTER 1-YEAR POST-TRANSPLANT
(WRMC 2026)
- "Purpose of Study: Patients after heart transplantation (HTx) may require a permanent pacemaker (PPM) within one month after transplant, due to edema or trauma to the donor heart or the preoperative use of amiodarone which can cause relative bradycardia in the donor heart... Patients who receive a PPM more than one year after HTx are at increased risk for 3-year mortality and warrant close monitoring after PPM placement. PPM placement for Unknown cause compared to those with Known cause appears to have less adverse outcomes which may represent more benign cardiac nerve conduction abnormality."

Medication-associated thyroid eye disease: a review.
(PubMed, Graefes Arch Clin Exp Ophthalmol)
- "Medication-associated TED is an important differential consideration in the work-up of orbital inflammatory disease. The clinico-radiological manifestations and the principles of management of medication-associated TED were similar to that of de novo TED. Certain medications, such as various ICIs, may demonstrate different clinical phenotypes of orbital inflammation, inciting either TED or a "TED-like" orbitopathy without evidence of underlying thyroid dysfunction."

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cardiovascular comorbidities: Shedding light on key interactions and therapeutic approaches.
(PubMed, Eur J Intern Med)
- "Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is often associated with cardiovascular disease and the both conditions share common risk factors (smoke), associated pathophysiological mechanisms (pulmonary hyperinflation and vasoconstriction, systemic inflammation and sympathetic activation) and drug use (beta agonists and/or antagonists, steroids, amiodarone)...Recent improvement in the knowledge of molecular basis of COPD, heart diseases and PAD have pointed out a strong, complex and fascinating relationship linking these conditions, not simply definable as comorbidities. From these premises, we here aim at discussing on the novel and emerging integrated therapeutic perspectives, in some instances exploited from immune-oncology, which strongly deserve a multidisciplinary clinical management."

MANAGEMENT OF ATRIAL FIBRILLATION DURING THE PERI-TRANSPLANT PERIOD IN ELDERLY AML PATIENTS UNDERGOING ALLO-HSCT BASED ON EBMT GUIDELINES: A CASE STUDY OF NURSING CARE
(EBMT 2026)
- "Precision medication nursing: Oral propafenone hydrochloride + intravenous amiodarone (collaborative with physicians), with 30-minute blood pressure/heart rate monitoring to control ventricular rate at 60–80 bpm and prevent hypotension.3. The occurrence of AF in elderly AML patients during the peri-transplant period of allo-HSCT is closely related to the toxicity of conditioning regimens, underlying heart disease, and decreased physiological reserve. The integrated nursing model of "evidence-based monitoring - precision medication - complication prevention and control - psychological support and health education" constructed in accordance with EBMT guidelines has been proven to effectively control AF episodes, reduce related risks, and thus ensure the smooth progress of transplantation. This model emphasizes the special nursing needs of elderly patients undergoing allo-HSCT, refines the guideline measures by optimizing the intervention plan, and demonstrates..."
