Unilateral acneiform eruption in a patient with contralateral Horner syndrome: A neurocutaneous observation
(EADV 2025)
- "She had been receiving trastuzumab, pertuzumab, and vinorelbine on a triweekly schedule, with the last dose five weeks before the eruption. Dexamethasone 8 mg IV was administered one day before onset...Topical clindamycin and tretinoin 0.05% led to gradual improvement... This case expands the differential diagnosis and pathophysiological understanding of acneiform eruptions. The contralateral pattern in a patient with Horner syndrome suggests sympathetic innervation may be essential for maintaining sebogenesis and inflammatory responsiveness. This observation aligns with emerging evidence of neuroimmune control over sebaceous glands, including melanocortin pathways and neuropeptide signaling."

Improvement of Fox-Fordyce disease with botulinum toxin type A
(EADV 2024)
- "Treatment with methylprednisolone aceponate 1mg/g ointment and clindamycin 1% gel yielded no improvement after 3 months. Due to concomitant hyperhidrosis, she received one session of intradermal injection of 75 U botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A, Botox®, Allergan, Inc) into each axilla...Other modalities with varying success rates include topical calcineurin inhibitors, tretinoin, clindamycin, oral contraceptives, laser therapy, surgical excision, and phototherapy... A 36-year-old pre-menopausal woman presented with a four-year history of multiple mildly itchy papules in both axillae. She had no significant medical history and denied previous laser hair removal or use of topical products/fragrances. Physical examination revealed multiple firm, non-tender, skin-colored follicular papules grouped in the bilateral axilla."

Efficacy of topical treatments for mild-to-moderate acne: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized control trials.
(PubMed, J Eur Acad Dermatol Venereol)
- "Adapalene-benzoyl peroxide (BPO), clindamycin-BPO and clindamycin-tretinoin demonstrated the greatest reduction in non-inflammatory (ratio of means [RoM] 1.76; 95% CI [1.46; 2.12], RoM 1.70; 95% CI [1.44; 2.02] and RoM 1.87; 95% CI [1.53; 2.30], respectively), inflammatory (RoM 1.56; 95% CI [1.44; 1.70], RoM 1.49; 95% CI [1.39; 1.60] and RoM 1.48; 95% CI [1.36; 1.61], respectively) and total lesion count (ROM 1.67; 95% CI [1.47; 1.90], RoM 1.59; 95% CI [1.42; 1.79] and RoM 1.64; 95% CI [1.42; 1.89], respectively) compared to placebo. All single agents outperformed placebo except tazarotene, which did not significantly outperform placebo for inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesion count reduction...There was no significant difference amongst most single agents when evaluating lesion count reduction. Combination agents are generally most effective for mild-to-moderate acne; however for non-inflammatory acne, the addition of clindamycin in topical regimens is unnecessary..."

Hidradenitis suppurativa in children and young adults: a retrospective cross-sectional observational study in the United Kingdom.
(PubMed, Int J Dermatol)
- "This group had a female predominance with an apparent strong genetic predisposition which is seen in other HS CYA cross-sectional research. Treatment was varied in this cohort, however long courses of antibiotics, including combined therapy with rifampicin and clindamycin, were the mainstay of treatment, similar to management in the adult population. This study therefore adds to the limited information on the demographics and management of the HS CYA population."

Enhancing Topical Pharmacotherapy for Acne and Rosacea: Vehicle Choices and Outcomes.
(PubMed, J Clin Aesthet Dermatol)
- "One of the latest vehicle technologies in acne and rosacea to enhance efficacy, stability, and tolerability is microencapsulation of benzoyl peroxide and tretinoin, which resulted in significant efficacy and good tolerability in patients with each of these two diseases. Other new vehicle technologies include a polymeric form of tretinoin and a microsphere product that combines tretinoin plus clindamycin...This review summarizes drug delivery systems that have been developed with the aim of improving outcomes for patients being treated for either acne or rosacea. It also focuses, where possible, on formulations that have been evaluated in clinical studies."

Co-delivery of isotretinoin and clindamycin by phospholipid-based mixed micellar system confers synergistic effect for treatment of acne vulgaris.
(PubMed, Expert Opin Drug Deliv)
- "The testosterone induced acne model proved superior pharmacodynamic efficacy of lab developed formulation vis-à-vis marketed products of both the drugs. The results were further confirmed by the histopathological studies of respective skin samples treated with different formulations. The lab developed lipid-based micellar formulation of ITR and CLIN offers a better strategy for the combined delivery of unstable molecules like ITR and CLIN in acne management."

Efficacy and tolerability of short contact therapy with tretinoin, clindamycin and glycolic acid gel in acne: A randomised, controlled, assessor-blinded two-centre trial: The MASCOTTE study.
(PubMed, Dermatol Ther)
- "This tretinoin, clindamycin, glycolic acid gel, applied as short contact therapy, has shown a better skin tolerability and at least a comparable clinical efficacy in comparison with the standard application modality in the treatment of mild-to-moderate acne. The SCT therefore could be an effective treatment strategy which could improve subjects' compliance and adherence."

[VIRTUAL] The risk of oral or topical antimicrobials for the development of Clostridium difficile colitis (CDI)
(ASHP 2020)
- "Control topicals included benzoyl peroxide/clindamycin (0.1%), erythromycin (0.02%), and clindamycin/tretinoin (0.02%). Control orals included doxycycline (40%), minocycline (35%), cephalexin (0.1%), and azithromycin (0.1%)... CDI is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Understanding the associated risk factors is essential in preventing patients from developing CDI. Although it is well-known that antimicrobial use is a risk factor for CDI, different antimicrobial classes and administration routes are associated with varying degrees of risk."
