Distal colonic crypt hyperplasia is not adversely impacted by Emu Oil and Saireito in a murine model of colitis-associated colorectal cancer
(AGW-GESA 2024)
- "Increased crypt length in the distal colon of mice with CA-CRC was primarily attributed to a process of crypt cell hyperplasia, as opposed to hypertrophy, evidenced by an increase in colonocyte count with no change in colonocyte diameter. Treatment with Emu Oil, Saireto, or combined Emu Oil/Saireito in experimental CA-CRC did not significantly impact crypt depth, colonocyte count, nor colonocyte size in the proximal or distal colon, suggesting that the decrease in tumour burden described previously may have occurred through a different process. Future studies should investigate the impact of Emu Oil and Saireito on expression of tumour biomarkers such as p53, APC and K-ras, which are intrinsically associated with CRC development."

Efficacy and safety of the traditional herbal medication Chai-Ling-Tang (in China), Siryung-tang (in Republic of Korea) or Sairei-To (in Japan).
(PubMed, J Ethnopharmacol)
- "Sairei-To is commonly used to treat inflammatory diseases and appears efficient to decrease the side effects of corticosteroids. Its immune-regulatory action is well recognized and exploited to treat certain skin lesions and chemotherapy-related toxic effects. The activity of the Sairei-To product relies on the synergistic action of its individual ingredients. Further studies are warranted to quantify the synergy of action inherent to this interesting botanical medication."

The Effect of Japanese Herbal Medicines (Kampo) Goreisan and Saireito on the Prevention of Recurrent Chronic Subdural Hematoma: A Prospective Randomized Study.
(PubMed, Neurosurgery)
- "This is the first study to show that Kampo medicine reduced the recurrence rate of CSDH in an overall population. This study demonstrated that byakujutsu Goreisan and Saireito may have favorable effects, unlike other studies, because byakujutsu has stronger anti-inflammatory activity than sojutsu."

Saireito, a Japanese herbal medicine, alleviates leaky gut associated with antibiotic-induced dysbiosis in mice.
(PubMed, PLoS One)
- "We have previously reported on a murine model of intestinal epithelial barrier dysfunction associated with dysbiosis induced by the administration of ampicillin and vancomycin. These results suggest that Saireito alleviates leaky gut caused by antibiotic-induced dysbiosis. Our findings provide a potentially new therapeutic strategy for antibiotic-related gastrointestinal disorders."

Saireito (TJ-114) Suppressed Donor-Specific Antibody Through Immunomodulatory Effects and Regulatory T Cell Induction in a Murine Heart Transplant Model.
(PubMed, Transplant Proc)
- "Nonetheless, when mice were treated with PC-61 at days 20, 23, and 26, DSA levels gradually increased to levels comparable to those of untreated mice by day 29, suggesting that Tregs are necessary to sustain the suppression of DSA once the effects of TJ-114 have subsided. Taken together, TJ-114 may be a promising therapeutic strategy to prolong allograft survival through its combined immunosuppressive effects in inducing Tregs and suppressing DSA production."
