Two beclometasone dipropionate inhalers will be discontinued at the end of November, the government has said. (The Pharmacist) - "A Tier 2 medium impact medicines supply notification (MSN) has been issued by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) for beclometasone dipropionate (Clenil Modulite) 50 micrograms/dose and 250 micrograms/dose inhalers...The corticosteroid beclometasone dipropionate is commonly used for the maintenance treatment of asthma in adults and children through reducing inflammation in the airways...Community Pharmacy England (CPE) said that beclometasone dipropionate (Soprobec) 50 micrograms/dose and 250 micrograms/dose inhalers remain available and can support increased demand...The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said the new lower-carbon inhalers would be available in the UK later this year."

MHRA approves first lower-carbon beclometasone inhalers for asthma (Pharmafile) - "The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has approved the world’s first pressurised metered dose inhalers (pMDIs) to use a next-generation lower-carbon propellant for the maintenance treatment of asthma. The new versions of Clenil Modulite 100 micrograms and 200 micrograms inhalers will become available in the UK later this year. Manufactured by Chiesi, the inhalers contain the corticosteroid beclometasone dipropionate and use the new HFA-152a propellant."
