Photobiomodulation and Migraine: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Potential.
(PubMed, Photobiomodul Photomed Laser Surg)
- "Preclinical models relevant to migraine, including trigeminovascular activation, nitroglycerin-induced hypersensitivity, and cortical spreading depression, support its translational plausibility by demonstrating reductions in hyperalgesia, oxidative stress, and neural inflammation. Although migraine-specific evidence remains limited, photobiomodulation represents a safe and potentially disease-modifying therapeutic approach. Future controlled clinical trials are needed to determine optimal stimulation parameters and clinical efficacy in migraine management."

Peculiar stimulatory action of high-energy chemicals: Fifty years of explosive-induced hormesis evidence.
(PubMed, Environ Pollut)
- "Key explosive classes inducing hormesis include nitroaromatics (TNT, 1,3,5-trinitrobenzene, TNB, picric acid), nitramines (RDX, HMX), and nitrate esters (nitroglycerin). These findings challenge traditional linear or threshold dose-response models used in ecological risk assessment, and highlight the need to revise standard testing protocols to include low-concentration treatments and hormetic modeling."

Profile and Outcomes of Patients Presenting With Sympathetic Crashing Acute Pulmonary Edema (SCAPE) to a Tertiary Care Emergency Department in North India: A Prospective Observational Study.
(PubMed, J Acute Med)
- "This prospective observational study described the clinical profile of patients with SCAPE who were managed with high-dose nitroglycerin (NTG)...Male sex, chronic kidney disease, longer symptom duration, plethoric inferior vena cava on POCUS, higher initial lactate, and the need for hemodialysis were identified as predictors of poor outcomes in the univariate analysis. This study highlights that a protocol-based approach using high-dose NTG and NIV in managing SCAPE patients shows a favorable outcome, resulting in low rates of mechanical ventilation and mortality despite high comorbidity burden and ICU admission rates."

Structure-Function Analysis of the Benzyloxy Moiety of the Delta-Opioid Receptor Positive Modulator BMS-986187: Identification of a Derivative with High Selectivity for the Delta-Opioid Receptor over the Mu-Opioid Receptor In Vitro and In Vivo.
(PubMed, J Med Chem)
- "One pyridyl derivative (compound 35) retained high DOR-PAM potency and efficacy (EC50 = 0.1 μM, Emax = 91%) with no detectable MOR activity. In mice, compound 35 enhanced DOR-mediated reversal of nitroglycerin-induced hyperalgesia, an effect absent in DOR-knockout mice, without enhancing MOR-mediated antinociception, demonstrating in vivo selectivity."

Acute Inferior Myocardial Infarction with Anomalous Origin of the Right Coronary Artery, Myocardial Bridging and Fibro-Lipid Plaque.
(PubMed, Catheter Cardiovasc Interv)
- "An abnormal origin of the right coronary artery (RCA) from the left coronary sinus was discovered by emergency coronary angiography, along with mild stenosis in the mid-RCA segment that persisted even after intracoronary nitroglycerin was administered...The patient experienced total symptom alleviation and an uneventful recovery after receiving dual antiplatelet therapy, intense lipid-lowering treatment, diltiazem for myocardial bridging, and stringent risk factor control. For long-term risk reduction, a multidisciplinary evaluation is planned for surgical of the coronary abnormality. In addition to highlighting the significance of tailored management approaches for congenital coronary anomalies combined with acquired vulnerable plaques, this case underscores the crucial role of multimodality imaging, particularly IVUS, in accurate etiological diagnosis and treatment decision-making for young patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) caused by complex coronary..."

Repurposing a Dual-Head Programmable Power Injector for Controlled Intra-Arterial Vasodilator Delivery During Cerebral Vasospasm Treatment.
(PubMed, World Neurosurg)
- "One chamber delivers contrast for angiographic runs, while the other contains a triple vasodilator cocktail of verapamil, nicardipine, and nitroglycerin, delivered via the injector's programmable Infusion Mode at operator-defined flow rates and volumes. No procedural complications related to the delivery method occurred. These preliminary findings suggest the dual-head programmable injector provides a feasible, ergonomic, and reproducible closed-system workflow for intra-arterial vasodilator delivery during cerebral vasospasm treatment, with broader applicability to other intra-arterial drug delivery settings."

Adrenalectomy versus esaxerenone: comparison of vascular benefits in patients with aldosterone-producing adenoma.
(PubMed, J Hypertens)
- "Compared with esaxerenone treatment, adrenalectomy provided more favorable improvements in vascular function and arterial stiffness in patients with APA. Nevertheless, esaxerenone also improved blood pressure, serum potassium levels, vascular function, and arterial stiffness, suggesting that it may be a beneficial treatment option for patients with APA who are inoperable or refuse surgery."

Mechanism of Tianshu Capsules in treating migraine rats based on gut microbiota
(PubMed, Zhongguo Zhong Yao Za Zhi)
- "A migraine rat model was established via subcutaneous injection of nitroglycerin. The Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a control group, a model group, a low-dose TS group, a medium-dose TS group, a high-dose TS group, and an ibuprofen group...Spearman correlation analysis reveals that partial gut microbiota are significantly associated with migraine-related behavioral and biochemical indices(c-fos, ET-1, CGRP, and 5-HT). In conclusion, TS can regulate the disrupted gut microbiota structure and microbial functions related to neurotransmitter metabolism, intestinal barrier function, and inflammatory regulation in migraine model rats, which may be one of the potential key ways through which TS exert its anti-migraine effect."

Age related differences in clinical phenotype, care and outcomes in ambulance attended acute heart failure: a population-based cohort study
(ESC 2026)
- "EMS were more likely to accurately recognise HF in older age groups, who presented more often with respiratory distress and tachypnoea, and were more frequently treated with supplemental oxygen and glyceryl trinitrate (all p<0.002). Younger patients more commonly had chest pain, hypotension and tachycardia, prompting more non-HF directed therapy such as aspirin, fluids and adrenaline (all p<0.001)... Patients with acute decompensated HF are a heterogenous group with distinct age-related phenotypes that influence diagnosis, treatment and outcomes. Recognising these patterns may enable more precise pre-hospital risk stratification and management."

A dense fibrin network favours layered plaque formation in the infarct-related artery in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction
(ESC 2026)
- "Endothelial and vascular function were assessed within 3 days using brachial artery flow-mediated dilatation (FMD) and nitroglycerine-mediated dilatation (NMD), respectively. The layered plaques in IRA were identified in 67 (71.3%) patients... The layered plaques in IRA, identified in two-thirds of STEMI patients, were more common in women and were present irrespective of endothelial and vascular function. Layered culprit plaques in IRA were independently associated with a more compact fibrin network."

(ESC 2026)
- "All coronary spasms resolved following administration of a nitroglycerin dose and no hemodynamic compromise was observed...PFA applications near coronary arteries, under these excessive use conditions, resulted in self-limiting spasm. These findings suggest that the accelerated pulse protocol preserves PFA’s non-thermal safety characteristics and remains well-tolerated even during excessive use conditions."
