Biphasic Brachial Plexus Blockade Following Interscalene Administration of Liposomal Bupivacaine (Exparel): A Case Report.
(PubMed, A A Pract)
- "To our knowledge, this represents one of the earliest documented recurrences of dense motor blockade after brachial plexus block with Exparel. Potential mechanisms, including delayed drug release, inflammatory-mediated nerve compression, and anatomical variations, are discussed."

Intraoperative Liposomal Bupivacaine Is Not Associated with Reduced Opioid Use Following Total Hip Arthroplasty
(AAOS 2026)
- "Intraoperative administration of Exparel in primary THA was not associated with reduced opioid utilization at any postoperative timepoint. Exparel use correlated with modestly increased NSAID and gabapentin prescriptions, suggesting a potential shift in analgesic modality rather than a net reduction in analgesic burden. These findings do not support routine use of Exparel in THA for opioid-sparing purposes."

Comparison between bupivacaine liposome injectable suspension and ropivacaine as local anesthetics for transversus abdominis plane block in postoperative pain management after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy: a randomized controlled trial.
(PubMed, Eur J Med Res)
- P=N/A | "BLIS offers prolonged analgesic effects, extending up to 72 h, and significantly reduces the reliance on additional analgesics, making it a valuable option in multimodal pain management for LSG. However, its impact on enhancing ERAS-related outcomes requires further investigation. Trial registration registration number ChiCTR2500104979, registration date 2025-06-26 00:00:00 (retrospectively registered)."

Transversus Abdominis Plane Blocks with Liposomal Bupivacaine: A New Standard of Care in Abdominal Wall Cryoablation" AND "Laparoscopicassisted Cryoablation of Abdominal Wall Tumors
(SIO 2026)
- "TAP blocks with bupivacaine liposome injectable suspension were hypothesized to provide effective pain relief, reduce opioid consumption, and improve patient-reported outcomes... Ultrasound-guided TAP blocks with bupivacaine liposomal suspension are effective and safe for providing regional anesthesia in patients undergoing abdominal wall tumor ablation. They significantly reduce pain scores and opioid consumption during the early post-procedure period at a time when many patients struggle with pain following multi-needle cryoablation involving the parietal peritoneum, enhancing patient comfort and recovery. Further randomized controlled studies are warranted to confirm these findings and optimize block techniques."
